There's no chance that Bryan Murray can keep the logjam of this lineup in place past this week. It's a waste of money and a waste of resources. Teams will start to think about adding players soon - and most of the guys that we have are cheap enough for teams to think about.

Schubert, Picard, Bell - along with the obvious Kuba and Neil are all candidates to be moved (although Murray has said he's waiting until closer to the deadline to make the move on his UFAs).

Murray also has stated that he won't hesitate to put players on waivers - something that I don't love to be honest - but...he's the GM.

IMHO we'll see Schubert and maybe Picard hit the waiver wire. Bell to Bingo maybe?

I was trying to figure out who might trade for Kuba, and I couldn't come up with anyone. I suspect he'll simply walk in June.

Schubert maybe, but Picard could certainly get something on the trade market. He's a good PP specialist on a good contract.

As for Kuba - Dallas is the perfect trading partner IMO. 2nd rounder, let's do it! 8)

I can think of a few teams that may have interest in Kuba.

New Jersey, Boston, Washington, Philly and Dallas.

All good ones actually. All would have legit interest I think.

I can't see him Waiving anyone. It makes no sense. Ship Schubert off for a 4th or 5th rounder, send Bell to the minors, ship Neil to the Wings for a 2nd and Kuba to NJ for a 1st or 2nd and then your fine right? LOL.

Thanks for that...

New Jersey--according to reports Lamoriello may want to add a defenseman.
Boston--they are looking for a forward.
Washington--solid on D.
Philly--no cap room.
Dallas--replacement for Zubov maybe?

So who do the Sens target in return?

We can't take any players in return. We'll need picks or prospects.

With the possible exception of Dallas. I think Murray will try to talk them into giving us Daley for Kuba.

Pretty much every team but Philly would probably give us a 2nd pick and decent prospect.

Philly is looking for cap space as you pointed out but they also want a defensemen so I could see them trading Lupul for Kuba or something like that.

from TSN:

''We're obviously not where we want to be going forward,'' Murray said Monday while discussing the Senators' plans for the March 4 deadline. ''I hope to go do a couple of other things, whether it's just add prospects or draft picks.''

cheers

''Our performance this year has not allowed us to say there are any untouchables,'' he said.

Jason Spezza, whose no-trade clause on the US$49-million, seven-year, extension he agreed to last year doesn't kick in until this summer, would likely attract the most in return, although Murray side-stepped questions about the Senators star.

''He's our No. 1 centre,'' Murray said when asked about Spezza's status, before adding, ''I'm not going to get into specific names. I don't think that's fair, other than the guys who are unrestricted (free agents).''

So I guess he's not shopping Spezza around.

'I get lots of calls, I make lots of calls. Through the week there will be a fair number of contacts with other managers,'' Murray added. ''The teams that are like me, on the borderline, will be talking about what we can do with the unrestricted guys.

At least there is some interest...

One, Philly can't make any deals unless they dump salaries/players in return.

Two, why would Les Jackson give up Trevor Daley for Filip Kuba?

Daley's profile from Faceoff.com:

ASSETS: Has tremendous athleticism and loads of untapped offensive potential. Is a dedicated worker and solid team player.
FLAWS: Must overcome his smallish frame in order to maximize his NHL potential. Needs to make smarter decisions in the defensive zone.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Top four defenseman.
Not disagreeing, just trying to understand why Dallas would give up a young Top 4 defenseman for a UFA.

Top 4 because their D sucks . They would move him (I think) if they could re-sign Kuba. They need a replacement for Zubov ASAP. Mind you, I think there might be other players involved.

Too bad them for them then, they'll do something with someone, but not us I presume.

Someone on this forum suggested Lupul to Ottawa. Do you buy that?

i just hope he doesn't wait to pull the trigger too long and we see all those guys walk away in the summer.
i heard they were talking deals with neil and his agent was asking for 2 million.. i wouldn't even give 1.5... we have bass and ruttuu... unfortunetly i did like neil alot, but he's expandable.
