Im pretty sure Falitov was playing in the AHL last year, well I know he was. Lehner is aso eligable to play in the AHL as well. It's Canadian and American I believe. Imports dont qualify under those rules.... I think. Def correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

I just looked into it some more, and it has to do with where the player is playing when he's drafted. For instance, Lehner was playing in Sweden when drafted, so he's OK. On the other side, Kulikov (a russian) was playing in the Q when he was drafted, so he won't be allowed in the AHL if he doesn't make the Panthers.

Kovalfie wrote:I'm excited to see Cowen tonight. I hope his knee issues aren't as serious as everyone thinks they are. Cowen has the potential to develop into a Chara-esque stay at home defenceman (at the very worst a Braydon Coburn). I have never seen him play before so I'm just throwing this out there, but I wouldn't be surprised if he turns into more of a Brewer or Regehr.

Looking to the next couple of years we could have an amazing blueline: Karlsson, Wiercioch, Lee, Cowen. It would be great to see Wiercioch paired up with Cowen at the WJHC this winter.

Not sure where Lee goes, but he's dropped behind Karlsson on the deptch chart this year, and will likely be behind Cowen next year, if not later this year. Then there's Wiercioch, who may very well "lap" him as well. I don't see the Sens with two rookies in their lineup either this year or next. Not that Lee is a rookie, but everything points to him going back to Bingo this year (2 way contract), so he'll be almost starting over.

Should be Karrlson, Wiercoich, Cowen, and with some luck and progress, Lee.

Solid take there.

Haven't seen this posted anywhere yet, but according to Michael Sharp, the B-Sens blogger, Keegan Dansereau has signed a 1 year, 2-way AHL/ECHL contracts.

Good stuff. This guy scored, what, 4 goals in 3 rookie games? Sounds like a great start to me.

I'm surprised Zubov got cut. I didn't think he was making the team but I thought he deserved one more game. I wouldn't be surprised to see him added to a trade if Murray decides to make any moves.

On that note, I'm trying to figure out where Chris Kelly fits in on this team. Seems to me like he is the odd man out with his performance not being any better than Smith's or Regin's this off-season.

Surprised with the cuts, but because the team hasn't been winning (or scoring, for that matter) they need to quickly settle into the opening night roster. Zubov wasn't getting a shot, so he goes. I think Bass has lost his place on this team. That freak injury last year kept him from developing, and then the Neil extension destroyed his chances.

i still thought bass would get a longer look and zubov has had some good playing time i figure lehner was sent down because the ohl is gearing up and they may want him to get used to his team mates. I was surprised to see chiodo is getting sent down without playing even half a game

Sens assign three to Binghamton (AHL): St. Pierre (C), Hennessy (LW) and D. Smith (D) and return Hoffman (LW) to Saint John (QMJHL).

Was at the game tonight.

Sens overall looked great.
I was amazed with what Kovalev can do. I think Regin's performance these past two games jumps him ahead of Smith. Will likely push Kelly for third line duties. Extremely unimpressed with Cheechoo. He did zero in tonight's game. Let's hope Michalek can score 35-40 and make up for the trade. Karlsson also continues to impress me. This guy is fantastic. Fisher on the wing looked strong and as if he was playing pressure free.

I pretty much agree with everything u said. I just hope that Cheechoo is still getting over the acclimation issues.

Karlsson looks like a lock to make the team, and Regin is making a strong case to consider moving a player to make room for him. Fisher is showing the signs of a break out season, as long as he can do what he's doing now in the regular season.

Caulkner haslooked incredible in his role so far. He's exactly what the Sen's blue line is lacking. I'd much rather him than Schubert crowding the roster at this point.
