Yup, people seem to forget there are about 20 other players on The Sens at this point.

One thing I do think should happen though is Murray needs to tell the fans what is happening with Heatley. I'm all for keeping things on the DL, but it's about time a decision was made for everyone sake.

Nah...Diddle that. He made it quite clear on July 2nd that the likeliest possibility was that Heatley would be a member of the Ottawa Senators in October. Imo Murray doesn't need to say a damn thing until prep for the season begins and its all but official that Heatley will be in our roster on opening night. Until then, any attempt at clearing this up will only leave him with less wiggle room in the public image.

Making a declaration can be powerful for a persons image, but when that declaration is later proven false, they lose that power plus more. The safest and smartest thing Murray (a GM who already has PLENTY of critics) can do is sit tight and stay quiet.

I agree, but the season is literally a month away from starting (camp). I guess until then Murray might be able to keep his cards close to his chest, but if a deal has to be made it literally has to happen within the next 3 weeks.

With Propal signed in NY, I actually agree with Eklund when he says that they are making arrangements for the loss of Dubinsky, and that can be only one trade. (Rarely do I agree with the guy, but this time, it makes sense.)

It adds credence to your prediction of a few days ago N4L

On June 10th, I would have said the possibility of a deal happening before August 15th was somewhere between 85-100%. Now I'd say that a deal happening before training camp is somewhere around 35-40%. I think that there's a relatively equal possibility of a deal being made sometime before Christmas, but after that point I'd give it less than 5%.

Basically I'm saying what we all already know: that a deal is still a distinct possibility but the likelihood gets worse every day that goes by.

I'm pretty well prepared for anything, including Heatley's return Shrug

The talks will hit a fever pitch then when his salary for the remainder of the year is a fraction of what it is now. Teams will line up, and someone will meet Murray's price, which may have increased depending on Heatley's success this season.

:___:

I've always said any deal now, Sens fans will not be happy with. But closer to or at the deadline, they will be ecstatic.

Did you miss the last 2 pages of discussion? If by ecstatic, you mean enraged and confounded, then yes we will be ecstatic.

I dunno, I think I'd celebrate, whatever deal we get, whenever we get it. It may be a quick little celebration, followed by weveral weeks of depression, but I'll get my licks in first.

That honeslty wasnt even a prediction, I just heard from someone that Heatley will be going to NYR. Like I said that could be total BS.

If The Sens are in 1st place, Heatley is leading the team and top 5 in the league is scoring and they deal him at the deadline, you would be happy?

I'll tell you right now, I would be losing my sh it.

If NY gets Heatley, they better have other destinations in place for their overpaid junk, cause I don't want it in Ottawa. I'll take B-Dub, Anisimov, Grachev and Sanguinetti, but not Rosz.

Sorry, I didn't read every page as I only had a minute to play on this site. I saw a comment I agreed with and I replied to it.

Not sure why you are so confrontational? Relax a little. This board has more respect than you just showed.

Agreed...again, I don't understand the logic behind thinking his value will increase mid-season. Honestly, GMs are thinking the same as us. They know with the olympics are coming up and Heatley wants a spot. They know what they've heard in the media, same as us. They know he's a great sniper with the potential to knotch 50 goals in a season. These things aren't going to change mid-way through the season. And teams being more willing to take him on because his salary will be less? What, so they can be stuck in the same spot as us right now, -1 year? Honestly, I'd be happy with a Dubinsky +prospects and picks trade at this point.

Murray didn't wait this long so he can settle for a bunch of prospects and picks. Plus I think any NY deal should start with Staal and not Dubinsky but that's just me

It's not a questiong of whether his value inscreases or not during the season, its a question of what's right for The Ottawa Senators. Trading him at the deadline if things are going well in Ottawa is not only wrong, its stupid. That being said, if he isnt traded ASAP if things get off to a slow start it is also stupid and wrong.

Obviously a deal being in place before camp starts is ideal for things to move forward in Ottawa, but trying to increase is value is not the issue being disucssed.

Staal is pretty close to untouchable. I would be a 2010 first would be included though. No real need to take on any D men either.

It's not that big of a stretch to think Ottawa could be in 1st in their division with Heatley tearing it up. Whether you think so or not was irrelivant to my actual question.

If that were the case, would you be happy Heatley was dealt?
