nothing from Sens Chirp on this yet, but he could be working/playing softball again, nothing from Ek either, which is only good because that means it definitely could be valid, if Ek reports at anything other than E5 (meaning he stole it from TSN), then I know it won't happen.

(UPDATE 3:53 PM)- Just working on the details of this one but it seems like it will be just a draft pick coming back Ottawa's way. Clears the way for an Leclaire/Elliott tandem this season.

OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has traded goaltender Alex Auld to the Dallas Stars for their sixth-round selection (acquired from San Jose) in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Auld, who joined the Senators in July 2008, went 16-18-7 with a 2.47
goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 43 games during the
2008-09 campaign.

The 28-year old native of Thunder Bay, Ont., began his career with the
Vancouver Canucks and has also played with the Florida Panthers,
Phoenix Coyotes and Boston Bruins.

In 183 career National Hockey League games, Auld has posted a 74-75-25
record with six career shutouts, a 2.76 goals-against average and a
.905 save percentage.

Auld was Florida’s second-round pick (40th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Sweet deal. The next trade will most likely involve Heatley, Schubert and Picard as I suspect Smith will be going on LTIR before the season starts.

replaces the 6th we traded to Edmonton for the extra 7th this year.

Feel bad for Auld but I dont think there was much doubt that this was coming. Good on him and know we know for sure it is going to be Leclaire and Elliott going forward.

I think that's a shame; I thought Auld was quite good for us. Good luck in Dallas Alex !
