Edit: very short clip.

Well, that was exciting....*rolls eyes*

yeah I figured it would be more as well, sheesh, come on Sens TV, was hoping at least to see their dressing room before the concert, that was not a backstage sneak peak, that was nothing.

Heatley seen, but not heard

A definite maybe.
That‘s been Dany Heatley‘s response to a few questions as of late.
The obvious being Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray asking him to waive his no-trade clause to join the Edmonton Oilers in late June, a deal that would have landed the Senators a package of forwards Dustin Penner and Andrew Cogliano as well as defenceman Ladislav Smid in return.
Heatley, who requested a trade out of the nation‘s capital the previous week, had until midnight on July 1 to accept or refuse the trade, but instead let the deadline pass without comment.
Fast forward a few weeks, and Heatley still isn‘t talking.
Not to teammates, at least not captain Daniel Alfredsson, and not to the media.
Not by phone and not in person.
Several calls from media to the Senators sniper have gone unanswered, with messages not returned.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and, in this case, a Tuesday afternoon visit to Heatley‘s
off-season home on Okanagan Lake in West Kelowna.
A long and winding road to get there – not knowing whether he‘d be home or whether he‘d agree to an interview – it was certainly worth a shot.
Upon arriving, the back gate was open and seemingly welcoming. A portable basketball net was visible from the top of a downhill driveway, and a nice ski boat was docked just feet from the front yard. Fittingly, the 28-year-old former 50-goal scorer answered the door of his multi-million-dollar pad adorned in board shorts, a golf shirt and sunglasses.
Then came the questions: Dany, I‘m so and so from The Daily Courier, was hoping I could shoot the breeze on some hockey stuff with you?
“Not right now, man. Sorry, I‘m just about to take off, actually,” said Heatley, pleasant but clearly surprised to see a reporter standing there.
OK, fair enough, could we set something up for later on, maybe later in the week or next week?
“You know what, I‘ll take your card and I‘ll give you a call or have someone give you a call. We‘ll be in touch.”
And so ended a rather anticlimactic encounter.
It didn‘t end with a flat out no, but by no means was it a guaranteed yes. More like a definite maybe, a response Steve Tambellini and the Oilers can relate to.
That proposed deal isn‘t dead, according to various reports, nor is this interview.
Or is it? Stay tuned.

A journalist has managed to write a story about absolutely nothing. Holy Dung...are they desperate for word counts to fill their paper in Kelwona? What a load of garbage.

Don't call me, I'll call you, or someone will call you.

Yeah, that's a definite. No maybes about it.

Now, back to the topic of grammar. I left out there/their/they're because it just opens up a can of worms:

  • definately
  • your/you're
  • could of been (it should be "could have been", simple verb conjugation, really, just type "coulda" instead)
  • putting apostrophes in plurals (as in "There was lot's to talk about")
  • of instead of off or vice versa
And some site-specific ones:

  • comming
  • schedual
  • tallent
  • roll vs. role
I'm stopping.

Is it that hard to write a coherent sentence when you're getting paid to do it??

Anyways, its good to know that the organization is taking good care of the details for our affiliate.

What? It's perfectly reasonable to change the subject of a sentence part way through without using any punctuation or other signposts. Facepalm

I think one of the worst aspects of the blogger world is that far too many people who don't know how to use their native language are getting their words printed (albeit electronically).

Well look at the elitist (Dung I hope I spelt that correctly), not everyone has the oppurtunity to achieve the PhD at freaking Oxford University. Smile

The only issues I have with bad grammar is when people post in one solid block of text, without paragraphs. Also bugs me when people can't figure out when to use you/you're.

Too funny.

oh certainly you shan't be criticizing text/IM language, isn't it so much easier to type out ROFLMAO or TTYL?

I have not seen this myself but a "better connected, hipper" friend of mine was telling me that a lot of teenagers are now actually talking "texting". They will actually SAY "OMG (NOT Oh My God but O M G) and LOL (while of course, NOT laughing) and so on.

... that doesn't make much sense, OMG doesn't even save you syllables, you still have three in Oh My God. My conclusion, this trend wasn't started by a lazy person.

That's a joke right? I can assure you I'd ridicule any such individual if they happened to be talking like this in my presence.

Bit of news from Edmonton:

http://www.630ched.com/Channels/Reg/LocalSports/Story.aspx?ID=1116219

*Tune in to "Inside Sports" tonight at 8pm on 630 CHED for more...

I had a chance to speak with Oilers Assistant GM Kevin Prendergast on a
number of issues earlier this morning. I'm on a time crunch, but the
quotes are pretty self-explanatory:

On Heatley:

"I think we've given up hope on the Heatley scenario; but, I guess it's
not dead in the water. But, at this point, it looks like we'll go to
camp with the same team we finished with last year outside of a new
goaltender."

"I think at this point, it's pretty evident what's going to happen. But, we haven't closed the door on the whole issue yet."

I actually feel badly for Edmonton to be honest. It's like the pretty girl in high school telling her friends that she likes you, then you ask her out and she says no.

according to the Ottawa Citizen, which has a quote from Tim Murray stating that things are not looking good, he wouldn't be surprised if Edmonton pulls out of the deal shortly, and there are no other viable offers out there, it's hard to imagine, but no teams have any interest for a 50 goal scorer, that being said, what does Murray do now to get back under the cap healthily?

You think Dany Heatley is a pretty girl?? Weird... If you hadn't just married SensGirl, I would be asking some serious questions right now... not that there is anything wrong with th... Actually there are many things wrong with thinking Dany Heatley is a pretty girl.
