Neely4Life wrote:Also, how am I negative? How is saying "The Sens wont beat The Cup champs in a 7 game series" negative?

I've always been 100% REALISTIC, not negative. Get it right.

People want to talk about playoffs, awesome, I think we will make it. People want to talk about Spezza turning it around, great, I think he can right now.

Dont blow smoke up each others asses and say The Sens can beat The Champs as is. I could beat GSP if he breaks his leg and I land a BS shot on the chin too.

Who said we could beat Pittsburgh "as is"???

The good thing is..."as is" never happens. Can you get that through your thick skull?

You're right, chances are one of Fisher, Alfi, or Leclaire would be injured before Crosby and Malkin.

I love how I tell the truth and you basically cant take it, hahaha. If I was a Leafs fan you're the guy that says "you just hate The Sens" or "worry about your own team". Well, Sens are my team and unless everything goes their way this season and in the playoffs and everything goes against the better teams, Sens are a one and done in the playoffs.

I just hope you are not a bookie, because you would probably be broke.

Well, I don't think anyone is arguing that the sens are not comparable to any of the big 3 you mentioned in the east.  Thing is, we don't know what this team is going to look like at the start of training camp.  Throw in a deal or two somewhere along the way that works out well for the sens, then the odds are starting to even out.  Even with a decent return on Heatley, I still don't think anyone can argue, the sens would still be a ways off.  There's a reason why teams that are thrown together in a hurry don't do well.  All 3 of the teams Neeley mentions are teams that have been built from the ground up.  A sweeet return for Heatley certainly rights the ship but we've got a lot of sailing to do before we're talkin with the big boys.  Now, after that speel, I still wouldn't say there's absoloutely no way we could beat one of those teams in a 7 gamer....you just never know...95% to 5% maybe...but still possible...

That's exactly it right there. My original posts were to bring a little realistic perspective to the convo, then Mr.Thin Skin acts like I just said The Sens are going to be in the basement of The Eastern Conferance.

Again, anyone expecting big things from The Sens this year (big being winning a round), you might want to lower your expectations and just expect a playoff spot.

We also don't know what the impact of a full season under Clouston will do. All signs point to positives based on what we saw at the end of last season, but we'll see at the 82-game mark how it all went.

Absolutly this season could be a step forward for The Sens, especially with Clouston at the helm... but to think we can compete on the same level as the top teams in the EC for a 7 game series, lets get real here.

No thanks. I'm happy thinking that anything can happen...because it's true.

You might want to have some sort of faith in your life instead of being negative your whole life. It really is telling of you.

Neither do I. I guess anything could happen, but...I mean...they were just the Cup champs. They're better on every level.

Anyway, why argue about it? Right now, Neely's right. We'll see what happens when they actually play the games though. I'm rooting. I think they could do it, but all he's saying is don't get too ahead of yourself. We're 3 years away realistically.

Hopefully no one takes that the wrong way. I'm an eternal optimist, just have to face it for a couple of years.

Good news is, I never guarantee anything, but I would say lay some money down on the Sens in 3 years. And I think once we get in the groove in 3 years, we might be awesome for a while.

Im not negative at all, but I enjoy having common sense.

Might wanna go buy some lotto tickets there, big guy.

In 3 years, the landscape of The Sens could be totally different, we could very well have a new captain as well. The future is a lot brighter then it was a year or two ago and with the right moves, Ottawa will eventually compete for The Cup.

As for now, people can hope for anything to happen... at the same time, hope you win the lotto, hope you get to sleep with Jessica Alba, and hope you get drive around in Ferarri. I'll bet against all of those happening though.

In 3 years I think we'll begin our ascension to the top of the Conference. And I think this time they'll maintain being an elite team for a while.

I still think there's potential for a fun year this year though. We'll have to see how it all unfolds.

Yeah, because the best team in hockey always wins. There is also on a 1 in a 1000000000 chance that an underdog wins the Cup.

Just ask Nelly for the facts and while you are at it ask Tampa Bay and Carolina as well.

Unreal.

Well said...and there's nothing negative about that outlook.

Were Tampa and Carolina on top of their divisions when they won? Oh ya, they were.

Hmm, has Detroit been in the conferance finals the last 3 years, oh ya, they were. Was Pitts in the finals the last two years... ummm, yup, they were.

The last two teams to beat Detroit? Anahiem (won the cup) Pitts (won the cup), and even this year those two teams tooks Detroit to 7 games.

Anyways, you come on here, talk trash to people, and then when I basically shut you and your hopes up, you come with a stupid arugement. The best teams dont always win, but tell me the last time a team that didnt have home ice advantage going into the 1st round won a cup? I actually dont remember so...

So keep talking trash and keeping hoping for the best. You should probably hope that people actually think you have some insight or actual common sense in terms of hockey and The Sens around here. Exercise a little common sense right now and stop the back and forth with me, cuz I'll keep going.

Well, a lot of people mistake reality with negativity.

Nelly, you really have no clue. That post proves it.

So many assumptions on your part for a guy that earlier said he is all facts.

Don't get mad at me because you just lost a game of rock/paper/scissors to a guy with no fingers.

Really eh... no facts? Tampa was 1st place in the Eastern Conferance. FACT. Carolina was 1st in the SE and 2nd in the conferance, FACT. Detroit has been in the conferance finals the last 3 years. FACT. Last two teams to beat Detroit won the cup. FACT. People around here think you are an as****. FACT

Where are the assumptions there genius?

Also, learn how to spell NEELY. It's literally right there for you on every post you have replied to. Neely is in referance to a hockey player that used to play for The Bruins. It's not in referance to a hot broad from BC or a rapper from St Louis.
