From what I understand, the Minnesota Wild have tabled the best offer so far, and Murray is using that leverage to see what everyone else will ante up with.

If Brown's all that there's no way they'll move him. Sounds like Brown is a better Fisher at a lower salary with fewer injury issues. Neither one plays center very well, but in Brown's case at least he doesn't even try.

Any way we could get Brown and the 5th for Heatley and Fisher?

Brown is equal to Heatley. If LA gives up Brown someone should get fired.

You can't say Brown is equal to Heatley. They are completely different players. And just because Brown is a hugely better value it doesn't mean they can be traded straight up.

I want another 1st round pick, preferably better than the one we currently have. It's not too much to ask, is it?

Brown for Heatley would be fair, maybe even tilted in Ottawa's favour. Brown at this point, might be the better player.

I laughed when I saw Panzeri's headline this morning saying that Murray can't make a deal. I didn't have time to read it, but I know one thing for sure: Murray isn't giving anyone anything to work with. No one outside of the organization (and at the very top) is going to get any details.

If Murray's gets a deal he thinks is decent, he's going to say that there's nothing on the table right now.
If Murray gets a deal he really likes, he's going to say that there are a couple of offers he's looking at.

It amazes me that these guys can't read between the lines.

So Dregger just said the asking price for Heatley is not even a top 3 forward, just a good forward and a prospect or pick.

That tells me he has his sights set on a big UFA.

The Citizen is the absolute worst for sports writting. It's embarassing to read at times.

I doubt that's true. That is way less then market value.

I expect to see a deal that's a little less then market value but not like that. The team getting Heatley would walk away laughing.
