It's a shame the team moved from Winnipeg. If they move back there it sets things right in my mind.

I see the 'Yotes trading Jovo and Doan for Kuba and Kovalev to save on cash.

Holy frig... the buzz about the Coyotes coming back to Winnipeg is going to a whole new level... lots of snippets flying around about a three week timetable to make a decision with the NHL having "Plan C" as sending the team back to Winnipeg if these other sales (Reinsdorf, Ice Edge etc...) don't happen.

I have serious doubts that the team would survive long-term in Winnipeg. They are a notoriously "cheap" town... and supporting an NHL franchise is costly. Sure... the first couple of season's may go well but I have my doubts about the long term viability.

From what I understand it's not the attendance that's the problem. The Jets can sell out seats but it's the lack of corporate sponsers and boxes that causes longer time problems. It's not enough to sell out. You need to fill those corporate boxes to have a chance at making a profit.

I even question their ability to sell out regularly after the "newness" of it all wears off...

I'm not that familiar with Corporate Winnipeg. Off the top of my head I believe Great-West Life, CN and MTS are the big names there.

Things seem to be moving awfully quick, though. Elliotte Friedman has floated that an offer from the Winnipeg group would be $165m. Also, the Manitoba Moose may end up as a consolation prize for the Ice Edge group. They would move the AHL team to Thunder Bay.

It's a fair question but I think if you use history as a judge it's certainly a better alternative than Phoenix in terms of seat sales.

It's one of those things where only time will tell. I hope I'm proven wrong... would love to see the 'Peg get the NHL back and have it be successful both on the ice and financially.
