I have serious doubts that the team would survive long-term in Winnipeg. They are a notoriously "cheap" town... and supporting an NHL franchise is costly. Sure... the first couple of season's may go well but I have my doubts about the long term viability.

From what I understand it's not the attendance that's the problem. The Jets can sell out seats but it's the lack of corporate sponsers and boxes that causes longer time problems. It's not enough to sell out. You need to fill those corporate boxes to have a chance at making a profit.

It's one of those things where only time will tell. It's a fair question but I think if you use history as a judge it's certainly a better alternative than Phoenix in terms of seat sales.
