All things being equal, I try and get rid of Heatley for sure. Bigger return, bigger contract, so on...

They need a scoring winger pretty bad, if Heatley would waive, for sure. Our D would be set for years getting Tuebert back and we would have 2 top 10 picks this year with the assests we already have.

LA has a lot Ottawa can use if they are interested in Heatley.

RobbyJ has stated his case...thoughts from our experts?

What does LA have, like 14 picks?

And well, heck, Terry Murray IS Bryan's brother...it's the least he can do. Wink

So are you all trading Heatley or Spezza to the Kings?
DTR, if it is Spezza, I say he goes to ATL. Centre for Kovy, in return we get their 1st in 2009, 1st in 2010, a prospect and a roster player.

Spezza has picked it up under Clousten while Heatley has not, thus I say move Heatley if possible. I'll probably flip flop again before the draft.

Fair enough Robby, but let me ask you this...if Dean Lombardi offers you the package you proposed re: Heatley for JaySpez instead, do you make that deal?

Absolutely, but they have depth at centre right now.

OK, so Deano can trade a C (like Handzus) for something else...yes? Like another, less expensive wingman...or move Stoll to the wing.

What do you think?

I'd trade Heatley before Spezz, any day

Do guest appearances on Oprah and Dr Phil come with that deal?

Goodness no. Handzus sucks, he just got hot the last 3 weeks or so, but for 4 million dollars a year for 2 more years, there is no one out there dumb enough to go near him.

Stoll is one of the premiere face off men in the league, so that's not gonna work either.

They're so lucky to be getting rid of Calder, now...what the heck to do with Handzus. Maybe his late season surge to 17 goals and 39 points will make him more attractive to some unlucky team. Shocked!

I like the idea (more in Heatley's case than Spezza's), but there are a couple problems with it IMO:

First of all, dealing either for picks/prospects doesn't seem to be in keeping with our team's current attitude: we didn't acquire Campoli, Comrie and Leclaire so that we could start from scratch.

Second, I don't think any of Teubert, Hickey or LA's first is an adequate starting point for a deal.

IMO, a team potentially looking for a shake-up could be the Oilers, and Sam Gagner, Eberle and a first round pick could be enticing.
