I would not say that. If he asked for Tampas 1st, he wouldnt have had Kuba and Picard, and our D would have consisted of Volchie, Philips, Smith, Bell and Schubert...

Bet you anything we could've had Tampa's 1st if Murray didn't demand Picard. Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but just sayin'...

Man, I can't believe you guys are giving up on Picard already. The guy is 23 years old and is on a cheap-Donkey deal for the rest of this year and the next. Sure, he's not the strongest in his own end, but at least he can be physical. He also makes good decisions with the puck, for the most part, and can do what most guys on our blueline can't seem to figure out: get the puck through to the net. There's a reason he's our highest-goal-scoring defenceman on the PP (and on our team generally, before the Campoli trade, anyway), and there's a reason BM hand-picked him out of TB's lineup.

It's only been 47 games for Picard, boys. Give him some time.

Nothing against Picard, but we're potentially talking about a guy like Matt Duchene or Victor Hedman here.

Picard could be a fine defenceman. Hedman/Duchene could/should be franchise players.

^ I don't know why I'm so down on him. Actually, that's not true.

Everytime there's one of those Cluster****s in our zone, guess who pops out of the melee? I wish the kid would improve (and stop getting hurt) because he's a killer on the PP.

Next year he's got to bring a fresh approach and work really, really, really hard with Luke Richardson all summer. He can do it, but we have so many tier 3 D-men, he's gonna find it tough I think.

Picard is my friends defense partner this summer, not even joking.
I might be playing with him as well, not sure yet.

Hopefully you'll all be taught how to play in your own zone?

And if so, make sure he's paying close attention!

Thats the plan...

Not sure what group of friends I'll be playing with this summer. The group playing with Picard is in a Quebec league and I dont feel like driving that far to play mens, summer league hockey, we'll see though. Great players there.

Then we would have been short 2 defencemen and anything resembling a PMD, and people would have ragged on BM all the same for having done even less about our blueline. Hindsight is 20/20.

When BM made that deal, he made it clear that he couldn't settle for just draft picks in return. He has a team to manage, here and now, in a market with high expectations. You spend too much time off in prospects land, man. There's a big place called SBP and Murray's job and the Sens organization's existence is tied to filling those seats every night. It's nice to say, tank for a bunch of seasons and load up on picks, but the fact of the matter is that there might not be a team to speak of by the time that process plays out. In a perfect world, you'd always make deals for the future. In the real world, tho', where you're expected to ice a competitive team every year and every night, it's not always practical.

The bastard (Snow) screwed over us big time!

Oh, what was the other part of that trade? Yeah, Campoli, 4 points in 4 games, versus a player to be named later, 0 points in 0 games. Geeze, he's not even being dressed.

Fun aisde, let's see how many goals Deano scores in his next 5, 10, 20 games. My gut says not as many as Mini-Mike.

Is that called a Snow Job? Snow Big Deal.

A 4MM UFA for a 900K UFA.

PS interesting math of yours, comparing Campoli to a player who hasn't been drafted yet.

I don't get your point here. MacAmmond was a spare part. Comrie is a legit top 6 forward. I have very high hopes that Campoli emerges as a top 4 Dman who can run the 2nd PP unit at the very least.

Murray addressed what we all know was one of the teams biggest holes, a PMD. Is he going to play top pair, no, does he project as a nice complimentary PMD, absolutely.

Even if Comrie doesn't resign here, I love this deal.

A simple snapshot. Two players...their contracts...and what has happened since the trade.

You obviously love the deal.

Mind you, I will say that this site is a friggin' pleasure to be on and be a part of. Not just as co-founder, whatever, it's the fact that we have so many active and interesting members who fuel the chatter.

There's definitely a kinship feeling to all the people that come here - whether it's the newer or the old guard from Buzz.

So really 5000 posts is a testament to the people here more than me. :KKK:
