I'm on board with Murray's re-tooling. I like what he's done. If there was a chance to trade Mez for Boyle, I would have been all over it though.

Why bother trying to re-sign Mez when you can just turn him into Danny Boyle?

Murray was approached by TB with Mez still trying to come to terms. The difference in price was 2.7 million (we all knew Mez would get 4), why not just get 'er done. It's pretty obvious that TB wanted Mez enough to part with Boyle for him.

It's not ****ing, it's a odd scenario.

Boyle coming off a huge injury, with a 6 years term, at 32 years old, at 6.6 a year with an NTC... thats a huge risk.

I'm with you N4.. I like what Murray's done, and by no means do I think he should be relieved of his duties.

However, if the question is Bryan Murray's worst move... I don't think he's had any really bad ones, to be honest... That's why I picked the move he didn't make- better preparing our back end for THIS year.

I'm really surprised people haven't mentioned how Boyle would have handicapped our salary situation..

In my opinion, it's a no brainer... you deal with salary when you need to. If Boyle was on this team right now, I can almost guarantee you that Spezza and everyone else would be playing a thousand times better than they have all year. When the time comes that we need to dump cap, one of the two of them will have to go- and guess what, the packages put together for either of them would be SOOO much better than they are right now.

This is the only thing I fault Murray for.

^ I can buy into that scenario more than anything. Still hurts though.

I had to go with Paddock. That was the beginning of the end. Paddoc was largely responsible for letting the Emery thing go on instead of nipping it in the bud, and if they didn't have such a horrible season I think Stillman and Commodore would have stayed, and we'd have no problems attracting other UFAs.

All of this is hindsight though, and no one will ever get credit for the foresight they show, which Murray has shown a ton of.

Ya, I would love Boyle being here, but I understand why Murray didnt get him instead of a lot of people (not you) saying HE WAS WRONG HERE, HERE, AND HERE. Its just a black and white world to a lot of people.

Dude...the name of the poll/thread is Bryan Murray's worst Pre-Deadline move. :^^^^: The sun is probably shining brighter on the other thread that celebrates his best move.

I know, I just dont like looking back after a year and saying there were bad moves or even good moves... If it was Millbury, then it would be a different story.

I said hiring Padock anyways. Bringing players so far, I dont think it is possible to judge honestly.

I can respect that. A GM needs 4 years to build the team up properly. This was done to pass some time and see how people are thinking.

Ya, I just hate the people that come on here and say "he was wrong here" "how can he do that". People are so short sighted, just like Muckler.

The bastard (Snow) screwed over us big time!

Oh, what was the other part of that trade? Yeah, Campoli, 4 points in 4 games, versus a player to be named later, 0 points in 0 games. Geeze, he's not even being dressed.

Fun aisde, let's see how many goals Deano scores in his next 5, 10, 20 games. My gut says not as many as Mini-Mike.

I would not say that. If he asked for Tampas 1st, he wouldnt have had Kuba and Picard, and our D would have consisted of Volchie, Philips, Smith, Bell and Schubert... :GHF:

Bet you anything we could've had Tampa's 1st if Murray didn't demand Picard. Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but just sayin'...

Man, I can't believe you guys are giving up on Picard already. The guy is 23 years old and is on a cheap-Donkey deal for the rest of this year and the next. Sure, he's not the strongest in his own end, but at least he can be physical. He also makes good decisions with the puck, for the most part, and can do what most guys on our blueline can't seem to figure out: get the puck through to the net. There's a reason he's our highest-goal-scoring defenceman on the PP (and on our team generally, before the Campoli trade, anyway), and there's a reason BM hand-picked him out of TB's lineup.

It's only been 47 games for Picard, boys. Give him some time.

Nothing against Picard, but we're potentially talking about a guy like Matt Duchene or Victor Hedman here.

Picard could be a fine defenceman. Hedman/Duchene could/should be franchise players.

^ I don't know why I'm so down on him. Actually, that's not true.

Everytime there's one of those Cluster****s in our zone, guess who pops out of the melee? I wish the kid would improve (and stop getting hurt) because he's a killer on the PP.

Next year he's got to bring a fresh approach and work really, really, really hard with Luke Richardson all summer. He can do it, but we have so many tier 3 D-men, he's gonna find it tough I think.
