Ottawa's defence was excellent too. Great stick work (when they weren't broken lol), good use of the body pushing people off the puck, great shot blocking, killing back to back 5-on-3's.... Kovalchuk must have been so frustrated.

IMO he will be one of those guys bounced around from team to team looking for a cheap guy to move the puck. If he isnt that he wont be anything IMO once again.

Speaking of which: get those boys some wooden sticks for the PK. Why take chances? It happens far too often.

I sincerely wonder if it's at all possible to trade for Kovalchuk?

Roster player + Prospect + first + second = Kovalchuk?

Could you imagine a top six of

Heatley - Spezza - Kovalchuk
plug - Fisher/Vermette - Alfredsson

Don't we already have to much money on forwards though?

Spending that extra money on another 50+ goal scorer would hardly be the worst money spent, would it?

That would give you 4 possible 40+ goal scorers on one team.

I'd do it if possible. Defensively, we've been stellar.

If we can't score with that top 6....fold the damn franchise.

Yeah, I'd do that without thinking twice.

If a guy like Kovalchuk is available for that kind of price, you do it.

I dunno. Kovalchuk's not a UFA at the end of this season, so his value is pretty high.

I think they're far more likely either to target a young top player like one in the draft, or deal young assets like Little/Bogosian/1st/Lehtonen for a top-notch centreman/some other help to try to convince Kovy to stay.

How about Spezza/Prospect for Little/Enstrom/2009 1st then? That gets us closer to the ultimate prize. I think you know of whom I speak Wink
