I was wondering if EDM would be more interested in him than Anisimov as part of a Perron deal?

Wouldn't trade Zibanejad for Perron, no chance. If you are going after an Oiler go after Eberle. Sens need some scoring from the wing and a game breaker, Perron isn't the guy but Eberle might be.

Uhoh!
NEELY wrote:If you are moving Zibanejad then getting a big time winger or LH center who can play the wing (O'Reilly) should be the target.  Eberle is a possibility IMO, if San Jose decides to blow it up a bit I think Pavelski could do wonders, lots of options.

That said I wouldn't be so quick to trade Zibanejad if they figure out what he really is.  IMO that's a 3rd line checking center who can be a huge role player on any team given time and development.  People expecting him to be an offensive powerhouse or even produce like a top 6 forward are going to be sadly let down going forward.

Yet you're the one who said he projects to be Kesler and management said he projects to be the first line centre.

Deja viu all over again.

If he's going to be 3rd line checking centre then you trade him now.

NEELY wrote:Meh, I like Wideman and Miami so it doesn't surprise me what he's doing now.  He was an outstanding freshman and continued to play well all the way through his 3, 4 years there (I believe he came out a little early).  He's played on NA ice his entire career so the game isn't an unknown to him and no adaptation is needed.

Hope he gets a shot but I think he's more of an asset in a trade than Wiercioch at this point but Wideman is 100% the next guy in line if Ceci or Karlsson go down for any length of time (God forbid)

Adaptation is size/speed.  For Rundblad I don't think he was prepared for how hard the forecheck was coming at him, especially with less room to get out of the way.

Um it's the ice as well and anyone who has played on both types of ice can tell you how much the game changes from one to another, that ties into the size of the players and even more so the speed of the game.

You misunderstood my comment. I said "Adaptation is size/speed" in reply to your statement that for Wideman "no adaptation is needed". For Rundblad it was a much more difficult process because he was not used to the physical game, and the smaller ice surface just made it even more difficult to get out of the way.

He may be a 3rd line center but when a team with a Datsyuk comes in he gets same minutes as Datsyuk.

OK, so Legwand has 998 games. Unless he is injured or scratched, he will play #1000 in Tampa on Saurday. Next home date is Judas Alfredsson's home coming. Awkward. You've got to celebrate 1000 games, and if it happens on the road usually that's done the next home date.

Rumour of trade canceled due to Didn't You Know it was Thanksgiving???!

It's more sacred than Christmas in the States (because you don't have to wait a day for the sales to begin).

Huge lineup at Walmart here as I drove by at 6.30

Silly.

You think that's silly? Yesterday, around 4PM, I couldn't get into their *website* (walmart.ca) to check if they carried a particular product.

Why do I fee so ambivalent about The Return? Is it because I really want to say something nasty, but feel bad for all of you tearing up after watching that video?

They redirected to a page stating they were very busy but to basically "Stay on the line". Then there was a 30-second countdown timer that basically reset to 30 after it hit 0.

Caught 'Simmer' on the radio this morning, going on about conditioning for Zibanejad. That is quite possibly the issue; however, I remember him blasting Ryan about the same thing last year and #6 was trying to play through a sports hernia. It could be that too with Zibanejad.

That's what "The Hockey Simmer" tries to pass off as insider analysis.

Wait, are you suggesting that Zibanejad is battling through Ryan's hernia?

Someone (Probably Ev) mentioned a while back that Zibanejad was asked to (and did) put on some weight during the off-season. However even if that's true, he's had camp, pre-season and 20 games. Didn't Lazar also say that he added 15 lbs over the summer? Don't think it affected his speed any.

I don't disagree with Simmer that Zibanejad looks slow and not very quick in the first two steps. Absolutely essential to have that explosive start.

But is he going to get fitter and faster sitting on the bench? I honestly don't know what the "fix" is here. Play him on the 4th line and make him earn his way up?

I agree with the benching as he is not producing. The one good thing Simmer did say was the suggestion of a conditioning stint in the AHL.
