He put in the effort, he just had a stale game offensively. I agree, itll take some time. Same with Karlsson, the timing was off and because they're our 2 big guns people notice.

I waited a good 2 hours.  Even when I went to bed around midnight pacific, none of the games were up.  I think it's apple tv problem though, cuz I was able to access the games on my iphone
They had a ton of issues at the season start maybe they're still struggling.

Allowing 3 third period goals when you have allowed zero all game long is just unacceptable.  Growing pains I hope.

Also, why does anderson bite every single time on the wrap around attempts? That was a frustrating game.

The chances were back and forth though, we probably deserved to be tied after 2.  Then the giveaways kept coming abd you knew we were in trouble.   Growing pains for sure though, lots of positives as well as some glaring issues.

Anderson bites on wraparounds badly, but our d was standing aroun watching weber and that's what happens.
The standing around drive me nuts. Seemed to happen on all the wraparounds. Like they're all just watching and saying "Wow, he's gonna try a big slow wrap-around, I should probably do something and move... yeah... oh crap, too late. Goal."

Yeah, the third was all frustrating. That was a forward that missed that assignment I imagine. The d are covering their forwards. Whichever way, there's bugs to iron out here.

Chiasson is very solid looking. If he can keep up his board play abd net presence, he'll be fun to watch.

No wonder Pittsburgh traded Neal. What a pathetic diver he is as evidenced again last night. Not only that but he's one of the dirtiest players around.

Great hands, ugly player.

Lehner tomorrow. Not surprising as MacLean said both would play and Anderson has unbelievable numbers in Sunrise.

In a perfect world (or a video game) the passer passes, the shooter shoots, and the screener screens.  But in a real game situation sometimes the screener has to shoot or make a nifty between-the-legs pass.  Point is, even if his "job" is to stand in front of the net and screen the goalie, his list of potential duties includes all the rest.

Neil is not the biggest guy out there, so he's not going to necessarily make the best screener.
He certainly doesn't have the hands or quick release of Stone for those cases where he's the closest Sen to the rebound.

About the only two arguments you can make in Neil's favor is that he is tough enough to stand in there, and they can live with him missing a few games due to injuries from a slash to the knee or ankle.

Why are you arguing the point?  There is no arguing it.  He's not the only one able and willing to go to the next and take the abuse -- and he is missing those other skills that may become extremely important if the play doesn't go exactly according to plan (i.e. passer passes, shooter shoots, screener screens).

So why not put Cowen out there? I think Chiasson or Zib should have been on the ice, not Neil. Hell, I would have even put Lazar out there.

After the recent talk about Cowen's puck handling "skills" I don't think that would be the best solution. Chiasson is a big guy with great hands. Zibanejad, too. Greening (if he's in the lineup) has great PP numbers (adjusted to PP TOI).

Look, I'm really not trying to discount Neil's contribution but when he is out there on the PP he is not contributing in a meaningful way. This isn't House PeeWee where everybody gets to play in all situations.

I thought 18 shots on goal was pathetic. Then I took a look at the Bston/Detroit boxscore -- the Bruins got 17 shots on goal. Wow.

Cowen would be great in front of the goalie like Chara

Speaking of ugly, I thought Olli Jokinen was ugly without hair...guy should be wearing a full shield just to cover up that mug.

So Cowen is the new Spezza? I thought he and Ceci were our best D in the first, was he okay in the second and then sucked as badly as Karlsson in the third. Rest of the D need to take notes from Ceci...only one game but he looks to be an anomaly in terms of development time for defenseman.

This is exactly what I thought. Cowen is just a whipping boy and people expect perfection.

No one expects perfection, but the guy just isn't as good as everyone thought he was gonna be by now. Is it because of the surgery? Perhaps, but I'll admit to being nervous as he should be our 3rd best D with the potential to be our 2nd best for the next decade - and I just don't see it.

Used this before and I'll use it again: amazing tools, too bad about the toolbox.
