The Ottawa Senators (16-18-5, 37 pts) host their provincial rivals, the Maple Leafs to ring in the New Year. Last night Winchester and Kovalev were ringing the pipes, with a cross-bar and a left-post, respectively. As a team, the Sens sucked for nearly two thirds of the game, getting behind 0-3, before storming back to tie it up with 1:11 to go, on a goal by #11. Good on the Sens for managing to salvage a single point, but that could have been a win. Read my analysis of the losing goal in yesterday's GDT.

Please don't ask me to write any update about the Leafs. They suck like us; closer to a lottery pick but, with three games in hand, that could change.

Shannon was quick with a quip when asked if he was aiming at his bride.

“There was a Toronto Maple Leaf fan sitting next to her,” he said. “But I missed by a couple of inches.”

Except for the fact that Regin was actually hit and then stopped dead by an open door at the Maple Leafs bench. Left arm is hanging straight down off the shoulder.
