There are a LOT of people picking up on this idea now. Gary Galley mentioned it, Jason York mentioned it, I've heard fans talking about it. We'll see if they give him a shot, I didn't put the idea out there for fun, I put it out there because I think Karlsson could do it - now we'll see if Sens management tries it.

this would be a new low for our forward ranks if the likes of a d-man needs to play forward to provide offence. and either way, i don't think it would work.

Cuss we're a sad sack

If we see Karlsson as a forward then I'm pretty sure that means the Sens have put up the white flag and this season is all but over.

That move reeks of desperation and perhaps could be viewed as the coach saying to his GM - F-you buddy this is for not getting me some players that can fill the back of the net.

I no longer agree or disagree, but I will say that if it happens, I won't be that surprised.

That said, I'd love to see them play out of position to loosen up in practice. Karlsson on the wing, Giggles in goal, Neil behind the bench. Clouston can play D and wear Karlsson's jersey. Just tuck it in a bit.

I don't like it. Just give him a defensively competent partner (we may have to make a trade to do so) and give him free rein to rush the puck up the ice.

Yeah, I've been saying this about Karlsson and Gonchar for weeks now. Campoli too - rush the puck up ice through the neutral zone, always with the little passes, then the dump in. Get creative and rush it - and CC should be letting them.

I just think that the second you think you need to put a 20-year-old defenceman at forward to win games - even ignoring the potential damage it does to his development - is the second you need to re-evaluate how much you should be trying to win games, rather than rebuild.

It tends to be a 'hail Mary' to say the least.

Play him as a forward already. He can't play D!

Is there a set number of forwards on the ice at a given time? Can a team play with two forwards and three defenseman?

Earlier in the year when Calgary was near the bottom of the West, Sutter put 5 defencemen on the ice for a couple of powerplays to wake up his struggling forwards.

Bump again! Spez D was seriously on to something. Karlsson would be more of an asset as a forward IMO. He's built like a winger.

I don't know why it's that ridiculous, but if he can't improve his game in the next year or two then it's a serious possibility (or he will become a PP specialist). You learn from mistakes, but he doesn't seem to be learning at all.
