For sure, he'd also be much cheaper and probably very similar to Leclaire at this point in his career.

I'm willing to give Leclaire another shot personally. Just like I was willing to support Gerber when he carried the team in the early Paddock days.

Will Leclaire pull a Gerber? I hope not.

Leclaire isnt going anywhere. He's a guy Murray went after, he showed he might be a money goaltender and with any luck he may very well be the starter Ottawa needs right now and for the next 2 or 3 years.

Elliott has proven he is a capable NHL goaltender and can be counted on for long stretches. That was his first NHL season for the most part and just because he wasnt a rookei doesnt mean he didnt have a ton of inexpierence going in.

Ottawa is going with Leclaire and Elliott next year. There honestly is nothing to talk about in terms of who is going to be in nets to start the year or backing up. It's those two.

They're about equals, yeah. Leclaire has this 'potential' though. Pfft. Potential to get hurt going to the bathroom.

Laughing3 Enough paying for "potential" though. We've got the real deal coming up in Lehner and Elliott is ready to be Number 1 now. So, the room is not there for him anymore. Someone else can pay for his potential elsewhere. I'm sure there is a team out the that would take a chance on him.

No worries, you don't have a choice. No one would touch Leclaire with his injury history, poor play, cap hit and actual salary (4.8 million).

We're stuck with him, it's not a choice.

Name me one team dumb enough to take on Leclaire and his salary (plus crappyness, plus cap hit). One.

Leclaire will be given as much opportunity here as Gerber was given.

Wow, I hope not. Who knows though really? We still don't really know Leclaire yet and what he can bring to the team, aside from inconsistency in the regular season from being hurt all the time, and the 2 games in the playoffs in which he was spectacular. Hopefully that's the Leclaire that shows up in training camp. FingersCrossed

He does make a heck of a lot of money though.

Leclaire is the more tallented of the two guys in Ottawa right now. Seriously, you dont dump a guy after he has some bad luck. He showed what he can do in a high pressure situation and last year there were about 2 fluke things to happen to the guy.

He is probably the pencilled in guy to start the season next year with Elliott backing up.

Very good point. I can't even think of one except for us, and we have him already. Laugh1

There's that 'potential' tag creeping in again.

If he can come in and play like he did in the playoffs for us we're golden. If he comes in and someone farts on him and he gets hurt again....I don't know what I'll do. I'm sick of our goalie issues.

You realize how unlucky he was this year right? A puck doesnt hit you in the face every game or practice. Hell, take Fisher off the team and Leclaire plays the season healthy. The guy has so much tallent it isnt funny and to just bail on him after showing what he could do in the playoffs and basically carrying The Sens the first 10 games of the season if people forget would be stupid.

Seriously, Leclaire isnt going anywhere and I hope he isnt, he's the most tallented goaltender Ottawa has ever had.

Really??!! I think you're forgetting someone named Dominik Hasek...

Yeah, except the fact he has proven that he can handle the playoff pressure and steal games in The NHL. Where did I say he had "potential"? I said he is the better goalie, he can handle pressure, and when healthy is a legit number 1. People act like this guy got hurt on the ice during a game. He battled harder then I thought he was capable of in the playoffs.

You want to blame anyone for that concussion in the middle of the season, blame Fisher. Hitting your goaltender in practice in the head is a major no-no.

Boy, I hope you're right. I wish nothing more than success for this team and Leclaire would be a big part of it. Forgive me if I don't hold me breath waiting for this great, injury-free Leclaire to show up and guide us to happy places though, but I can be hopeful like you are.

Also...Hasek?

He played like 40 games, who cares. He is a sidenote in terms of Sens history.

That's what I was saying though, he was hurt all year so we don't really know what he can do yet. I don't want the team paying for "potential" that's all. But, we're going to have to and cross our fingers that he can be good. I think he can for sure, I just don't know yet because I really don't know what kind of a goalie he is yet and what he's capable of. 1 good season in Columbus doesn't make you awesome. Sorry.
