An NHL Team in Halifax?

This is all just oppinion but I think these are some of the key components to a successful Canadian NHL Franchise.

1 - An ownership with deep pockets and a willingness and ability to ride out lean years in situations like a sagging Canadian Dollar

2 - Corporate support to keep the suites filled regularly

3 - A large group of diehard fans along with a fairly large fan base

4 - A solid marketing campaign and an ability and willingness to invest in growing the game at all levels to build support for Hockey in general in that market.

I'm sure that nice, new sports car Jim-bo must be driving wasn't purchased with sound financial reasons in mind. How about the Halifax Rollup the RIMs at the BlackPearl?

The PEI Potatoes, sponsored by McCain's, and they play in the Cellar or the bin? could have a lot of fun with this.

Halifax has a population of less than 400, 000 people. In my opinion that is far too small to have a successful NHL franchise. If people think otherwise, they're living in a dream world (in my opinion of course).

as for the population issue mojo, there are quite a few communities within 2 hours or less that I know will be supporting the Halifax team as well, Cronie himself said he would make the trip and I believe he has a 4 hour trek down the highway, hockey fans will do it.

to make that happen, Rim Jim might have to get NHL 09 on his Xbox 360 or PS3, or I could play that out for him if he wants to buy me a PS3, no Xbox for me thank you very much.
