No I'm thinking when Vermette played with Heatley at one point. I can't remember the other winger, but I remember those two playing well together. Vermette really stood out.
Also, I think you are thinking of the Stillman-Kelly-Vermette line that did so well after the trade with Carolina
I swear...in April, when Vermette was the top point producing player in the league (5 points in 3 games), was it not Vermette - Fisher - Stillman?

Schaeffer had great hands (remember the goal he scored that he flipped the puck in the air for?). He had unbelievable hands, his problem was the first option was head to the boards. That is why he was never used on the shootout, the coach was afraid he would head to the corner with the puck

Vermette played centre for a stretch late last year and it was probably the best he's played in a Sens uni. He's more comfortable there and his skill is better served down the middle. Fisher's game is more suited to the wing and I don't give a rusty Diddle if he has never done it before. Not like his production can get any worse.

That is hilarious. More so, because it might just be true.

I wonder how much playing time he's getting on the third or fourth line in the minors?
MurderOnIce wrote:Here is the skinny....
Winger Antoine Vermette moved to the left side with Dany Heatley on the right and Jason Spezza in the middle. Captain Daniel Alfredsson is with Mike Fisher an Nick Foligno while Jarkko Ruutu, Chris Kelly and Chris Neil form the third line. Jesse Winchester skated with Shean Donovan and Dean McAmmond.

Yeah but difference is, we know what Vermette and Fisher are capable of... They are just in a slump, whereas We've never seen Winchester's capabilities... Are you actually saying that Winchester's "production" was hampered by Fisher and Vermette? I'd think it would be the other way around... Winchester needs to prove he belongs here, which in my opinion other than a few pre-season games he hasn't proved to anyone he deserves a spot on this team... I'd give to Bass before i'd give to Winchester, at this present moment... But since it's a numbers games Winchester will stick....

Vermette is too, but he's doing it. For less money I might add. For $4.2 million cap hit, play where the coach says. Sell the concessions if that's what it takes for God sakes.
On second thought, maybe ought to tell him that God wants him to switch to the wing. I'm sure he'd do it then
:lol!:
I'm willing to do what it takes. That includes taking advantage of someone's faith.

Hello? ... Did someone call?
[Booming voice]MIKE!
Who is it?
[Booming voice] It's the Lord, Mike.
Riiight. Look, who is it, really? Jarkko, is that you? What happened to your accent?
[Booming voice]It's the LORD, Mike.
Riiiight. Listen, what do you want? I've been good.
[Booming voice]I want you to play ... the wing.
Riiiiiight! What's "the wing"?

Bass isn't exactly lighting it up in Bingo, either.

Personally I've been very pleasantly surprised with Winchester and don't have a problem keeping him up (Contract status aside). As to Bass not lighting it up - That's not his game. He is a 4th line energy guy with the big club and can skate and will eventually be a PK specialist IMO.

Yeah I agree... It'd the energy that guy brings... He'll create goals for others around him...

His not "lighting it up" doesn't bother me in the slightest. We say that he could be effective at the NHL level, and points didn't factor into that at all.
