They play different sides so it doesn’t really matter who is better

No I’m completely wrong. JBD is RD as well.

I too would have him over Jaros long term quite easily

Wow, you guys are optimistic. I’ve been too optimistic in the past about our prospects and it hasn’t panned put. Guys will produce, guys will be moved, guys will stay.
Tkachuk is a hell of a player but I doubt he winds up a point per game. Neither is Batherson. Unless they change the rules in the nhl.
AHL success doesn’t necessarily translate to nhl success. There will be guys that project top 6 that will average put as 3rd liners. And same for D.

I think guy Boucher has played a system that has allowed guys to score more this year. He or another coach will have to bring in the system that will tighten up the play and in extension lead to less goal.

Who we get in exchange for our UFA will go a long way to deciding how good we will be in the next few years.

I think you're underrating batherson big time. He's 5th in the entire ahl in scoring even after being shuffled up and down from the nhl and they are not fluke goals or assists, this kid has amazing talent. Different league of prospect compared to formenton imo, this is a big time forward for us.

20 goals in the nhl next year. Book it Ahhhhh!

I don’t think Tkachuk will be point per game. You see the clear skill he possesses on his two perfect asssjsts tonight though. He’s a great playmaker .

Batherson excelled on the OHL and in a best on best peer tournament before his success in the AHL. Nothing is guaranteed, for sure, but he's pretty close to a slam dunk right now. Scoring is way up, so he absolutely had a chance at becoming a PPG player.

As for JBD I haven't seen him play. I have seen Jaros. Wolanin had very similar stats to JBD although they never played together (so not the same teams). I think it's fair to say that Wolanin would be in Ottawa of he played the right side. Still not sure how Lajoie is still up in the NHL, though. Bubble burst a long time ago.

-3 last night. 2nd worst +/- in the league

On another point, a good GM sits his key guys in the Thurs/Fri games. That was probably the last game we see some of our guys in a Sens jersey.

I'd also be putting Zac Smith on waivers today.

I’m not sure if we’ve talked about how crazy it is to have Stone, Duchene, and Dzingel still in the lineup, but it’s Cussing nuts. None of these guys need to be “showcased”. Scratch them until they’re signed or traded.

i don't know, I don't normally see guys being sit if I remember correctly. New York isn't sitting Hayes and Zuccarello for example.

It's insane. I cringe every time they get hit right now. I wouldn't have the guts to play them. Especially not for the 14 fans that go to games. Sorry, no way!

There's NOTHING to be gained by playing them and an incredible amount at risk if they're in the lineup. Travis Yost had an article the other day and the numbers work out to there being around a 1% to 2% chance of a player sustaining an injury in a game that could greatly diminish or negate their trade value.

I'd keep playing Stone because he's not going anywhere.

I don't have the links to Elliot Friedman's article but he said and I saw it retweeted. It said he believes sens offered 10.5 for 5 years

The term is the killer there. 9.5 x 8 gets you to 76 million, 10.5 x 5 gets you to 52.5. Big gap. And I understand that Stone would still be young enough to go for another 5 year big money contract at 32 or whatever, but the risks are aplenty for him.

Obviously term and dollars are big factors, and I think the other one that kills the Sens is the whole signing bonus issue.

I think if that rumour is true, and I don't think it is personally, the Sens will pay the signing bonus + they'll make the contract lockout proof.

I don't think that's the issue. If I'm Mark Stone, i say no to that offer. Sorry, I love Ottawa, hate the fool owner, but we can go for it in a few years, maybe earlier, but I'm not leaving 20 million on the table in hopes that I'm healthy at 32 to recoup the 20+ million. No can do.
