The Flyers got shelled last night by the Sharks. Brian Elliott was in net for Philly, stopping 40 of 48 shots.  Calvin Pickard is Philadelphia's other goalie, so I assume we'll see him at the CTC tonight in net.  He played one NHL game last year.

Ottawa's coming off the loss to Boston, but they've been playing OK.  It sounds like Chabot and NHL-leading +/- guy Dylan DeMelo are locked in as a D pairing right now, and the rest will probably be in a blender, with Boucher acknowledging that Boro/Ceci wasn't working.

Yeah well I could have told them bord ceci wasn’t going to work. Boro isn’t anything more than a 5th or 6th Dman.

Should be a high speed, entertaining game. Two teams coming off of blowout losses. Sens are rested, Flyers are better.

4-2 Sens win.

Flyers were embarrassed in their home opener. Sens lost 6-3 but the last one was an open not and they also got a couple posts. So it was fairly close, not at all a blowout.

JVR is still out, they should be tired, and they have Pickard in goal. Hold on to your butts at the start of the game, then it should start getting better.

usually I pick the team coming off a loss on a B2B to win, but I think the Sens take it tonight in a low scoring game.

Make it so.

(Pickard isn't Picard but it's close enough)

I predict a 5-3 loss for the sens. I just think they’ll be harder than we’re ready for.

Tkachuk is looking mighty NHL... except for that dumb penalty

Guess I’m wrong on both counts lol. But fun to watch at least. Don’t think this is a bottom 5 team

Fun to watch is the one thing the Sens have going for them lately....

Matrix can be a bit better, but this definitely wasn't his fault. The Flyers had a constant flow of high percentage scoring chances. They could've easily had two or three more goals.

We just don't have the defensive personnel or general ability to shut down other teams' top players.

They need to add Jaros in the mix and sit Wideman and Boro who have both been turnover machines and out of position on the regular. I'd also entertain adding Wolanin sooner than later. He's at least pretty competent in moving the puck.

Chabot - De Melo
Lajoie - Ceci
Wolanin - Jaros

I'd also like to see White get more than 9 minutes a game. He should be playing in Smith's spot. Boucher needs to get Stone going. I don't think Smith is the right guy to be playing with him.

Tkachuk-Duchene-Boedker
Dzingel-White-Stone
Formenton-Tierney-Ryan
Paajarvi-Smith-Pyatt

I'd even entertain moving Boedker with Ryan to balance things out.

Couldn't watch last night. What happened that they scored 7 goals??

Well, it was a chaotic game with a bunch of penalties on both sides. The Flyers had a billion great chances, and buried a bunch of them. We let them have way too much zone time where they were just cycling the puck in circles around us.

Bad team defence. Wideman and Boro caught out of position way too many times. Boro trying to make hits, Wideman pinching at bad times. A lot of odd-man rushes. And the team as a whole can't shut down top lines. Anderson let in some weak ones but made some saves he shouldn't have. Same old. They may be able to take advantage of LA Saturday as it's a day game and they may not be acclimatized to the time zone. Who knows. The story all season long will be their inability to play defense. Which we knew would be the issue all season long.

The last goal in both of the last two games has been an empty netter, meaning they were not out of it until the end.
