Flo The Action wrote:All this TSN talk about possibly trading Turris. I don't like it. Why don't we give him 6mill x7Y? He'll be a damn fine 2nd line C towards the end of that contract. He's still young. I don't get it. I doubt we keep brassard past his contract. This better be posturing

Because that's a ridiculous contract. 7 years should only be reserved for true star players. We signed Ryan because the team would have been shredded for letting him go, but he didn't really deserve a 7 year deal either. IMO 7 year deals should only be given to players in or entering their prime.
I compare the value of Turris to that of Krejci. And krejci is way overpaid. But if he can get a long Donkey deal like that then 7 years for Turris at 6 mill is exactly what he’s worth

Krejci is better though.

Not by much if any.

Krejci routinely puts up 60 points, where Turris has done it once. Over a longer period of time Krejci also has a high .ppg hy.15 and he's a playoff beast.

It's not outlandish to compare the two, but I don't know if Turris is really quite there

Ugh...

So Phaneuf/Ceci
Boro/Wideman

Harper-Claesson is a nice youth pairing, I like that...

Do I need to make "Harper" a no-no word auto changed to "Harpur"?

Good story, I like it too. Sends a message down to the rest of the prospects that opportunities are there for the taking.
But I sincerely they send him away before the ninth game since the kid is severely undersized and I worry he could get really injured.

At the very least he’s making a pay check larger than he’d make for the next couple of years.

Chabot and Jaros recalled for the Western trip. Dmen falling like flies. Guess they'll roll with 7.

TBH they both did not impress me too much last night. The defensive play at the game was horrendous. It’s probably because the group hasn’t had much time to gel as a group but the drone coverage was non existant.
Englund is a big boy. It’s impressive. Sieloff was slow as Diddle.

His offensive ability is great but I think there's much to be done defensively. I only watched the second game of the 2 in Montreal but the d coverage was aweful. Like embarrassingly aweful . But that's not solely on chabot but more on whatever system they are going by or if players are buying into it. Also shots were 22 to 50 or something like that. Just embarrassing

You realize they were saying the same thing about Karlsson, even after he won his second Norris.

Bingo was a crap team last year and it'll take a little time. Getting a couple better players did not completely overcome having, as you mentioned, Sielof, or Jake Rodewald as your leading scorer.

They are still a crap team.

Well at least karlsson actually made it back to his own zone to cover the play. And there's only one karlsson. You wind up with a power play specialist that barely gets minutes if they can't play both. Leave him in bingo till he gets it

Yeah, he could use some time in Bell. That's what's slightly annoying about this right now. Boucher and Dorion clearly agreed he needed some time in Bellville, I didn't see it personally, but that's why I'm here and they're there.

The good news is: we watched him in pre-season, he can fly up the ice and create chances, then he's smart enough to haul arse back to his own zone.

He's gonna be so good it's actually scary to see. He's Karlsson basically - in that he can fly up the ice and make things happen and he's fast and smart enough to get back, but...the NHL is not the Q and he could use some time getting used to how fast things happen. I wish they had left him down there and called up Jaros and someone else, but whatever, he'll go back down in a week or so I assume.

Another issue I have is the way Boucher uses young players. Formenton barely played vs Detroit, Brown played in the first, then sparsely in the 2nd and 3rd vs Washington. Play the kids, go for it, don't be shy. They'll bring that useful enthusiasm and energy that you just can't buy.

Formenton didn't play a lot because of all the power plays. Brown played a good amount I found. He wasn't great IMO so he had his ice time reduced accordingly
