Yeah, he meant the Caps. This sums it up nicely:

Devils got Palmieri for 2015 2nd & 2016 3rd.
They got Hall for Larsson. They got Johansson for Savard (FLA 2nd) and Lamoriello (TOR 3rd).

I dunno, I really like him.  He's a heck of a player, it's not really out of line IMO.

Kuznetsov is a 9 year pro, not a guy about to break out. 20 goal scorer, lots of assists playing with Ovechkin, so don't expect another 77 point season anytime soon. His zone starts (60% o-zone) show you what the coach thinks of him. He's an offense first player, sub-50 on faceoffs, won't score 30. But the money and term is what you'd expect for a 30g/70pts player who will help you win the hard games in the playoffs.

Diddle, I don't understand this league sometimes.  You couldn't have done better than a 2nd and 3rd?  And it's not even Jersey's 2nd.

Who did the devils give away? You mean the caps?

Yeah. That's a crazy trade. I think we could have offered better.

Sorry, yeah the caps.

Radulov goes to Dallas. Montreal is having a really weak off season

I think the got Drouin as protection against Radulov leaving. But that trade also made then very sensitive to Markov leaving. He can ask for the moon, now. No idea why they got Alzner. Serious mistake, there. They must sign Markov, now, but are still weak down the middle. What if one of Danault/Lakhonen have a sophomore slump?

They basically traded Radulov and Sergeychev for Drouin.

I love it. I think Drouin is better than Radulov but that seems at this time like a sideways move while loosing their best prospec. I just hope Markov isn't back now. I can only dream of how the management will implode if they don't make the playoffs. Hemsky was a panic move.
And prags is right, still weak down the middle. Next panic move? Yakupov...

I like Drouin a lot, but the habs are certainly no better right now.

Drouin would have been great here. I think he'll be better than Radulov in Mtl but I think loosing both Radulov and sergachev in the future will hurt them a lot in competing. It does feel like they are standing still. And they didn't look so hot last year.

If I were a Habs fan, the thing I'd be most worried about is Carey Price. Not getting younger, injuries starting to stack up...he should be good for most of that contract, but will he continue to be the best goalie on the planet? I dunno.

That's the one thing I wouldn't worry about. Yeah the last couple of years are hard to forecast but goalies tend to last. What I'd wonder more about is if they don't win it all in the next two years they likely need to go through a large scale rebuild. Which city, fans and media have no appetite for. Complete debacle this is gonna be. Could they make the playoffs? Sure... but I don't see them as great contenders.

Montreal has a real chance to get screwed in the east this year. So do we. This conference has become pretty strong, especially with moves made by other teams.

I think we'll be on the bubble and hopefully make it, but I strongly doubt Montreal makes it.

Toronto looks real good too, buffalo looks good, Tampa looks good, Florida should rebound, Columbus is good, philly is good, isles should be good. We're in deep here.

Agreed. I think we are the only team that took a step back. Keep in mind, we only made the playoffs last year by a few points but we also didn't have Andy or MacArthur and a good Bobby Ryan for most of the season.

It is really hard to say where the Sens will end up, but I can't help but feel like we miss the playoffs this year.

I should say that Montreal took a step back, too.

How good of a partner would Markov be with Karlsson. Could be a dirty PP

The Sens did not take a step back. We are a clear #1 or #2 team in our division. I'd bet good money on them winning the division this season.

I think you will see a huge resurgence from Florida who faced a ton of injuries last year, and the Leafs can be dangerous assuming they avoid the sophomore slump. Tampa could also turn it around and I am not sure what Montreal will look like with all of their roster changes. I can see the Habs trying to land Kovalchuk with Radulov gone and Markov unsigned.

We are relying heavily on an older Anderson, MacArthur making it through the year un-injured, Ryan performing to his potential, Phaneuf playing a lot of top-line minutes, and Claesson being as good as advertised.
