from where i sit i just feel we are being outmatched by the opposition. its not necessarily one guy i'd single out but just that they are able to play past our system. i feared this could happen in the playoffs facing the same opponent day in, day out. they adapt to your play and the rangers are a fast team. well coached.

I still think we can win this one but goal-tending will have to be better and offense is going to have to click. are we too injured to make it happen right now? possibly. i feel like half the team is playing on one leg. still, we have to play tougher with them and rough them up and not let them play with the same speed and energy they have.
I think we have to make it a war of attrition for them as well, it sure feels like that's what they've done to us.

When a 6'5" Ben Harpur gets muscled off the puck by 5'7" Mats Zuccarello you can't blame it on size disparity, skill disparity or health disparity.

Should the Sens make an offer for Kovalchuk? I'd imagine he'd fit a LA/Chicago mini-rebuild with top four d-men, skilled forwards, and draft picks being readily available.

Kovalchuk can go Diddle himself.

I don't know. He'd be great for the right price. Can play LW and RW(although he shoots right so I imagine he's more on the right)
I wouldn't want to give up the bank for him but on a 3-4 year deal it could be good. I wonder what NJ will expect in a trade?

He just turned 34, you want to give him a 3-4 year deal?

The equivalent of a 1st IMO. Stay well away. Let Montreal give up prospects/1st or more likely Vegas.

Yes. Nothing tells me he wouldn't be good still by then.
Im not talking 7mill per year.
But at 5-5.5. Sure.

Well, with the guys we have to resign eventually, I don't think there's any way we're going after Kovalchuk.

I don't know. We'll see right? If somehow bobby Ryan isn't on the team come July 1st or even some salary can move around. I think it could work. From now on we'll hopefully be looked at as a team who's window of contention is just opening up.
Cap will also go up a couple mill a year I expect.

Another point I want to bring up, I'm hoping we don't hear budget part of the convo for years now. We are in a deep playoff spot with plenty of revenue coming in, if we upgrade this team next year we're likely looking at several years of playoffs. I'm not advocating spending to the cap for the sake of it but I don't want money to become an issue in how we manage this team.

You might not want to hear about the budget but you will.

Back in the day they were saying each home playoff game brought in $1M profits. So that's $8M minimum, even if we get swept. And likely more, as they've upped the ticket prices each round.

Did they up the price on each round? Wow.
That 1mill was many years ago. I'm sure it's more than that now.

Totally estimating this:

Revenue:
Ticket Sales: $250 per ticket x 19,000 people => $4,750,000
Parking: 8,000 cars x $18 each => $144,000
Concessions: $40 per person x 19,000=> $760,000
Total: $5,654,000

Variable Costs:
Utilities
Non-contract staff
Food costs

I'd imagine they probably clear at least $2-2.5M per home game

Are you averaging those ticket prices between lower and upper bowl?
I would think the parking and conseesion is a lot less than that. Maybe not. I don't go to games often enough. Consessions aslo means cost of what is being purchased, calculating for a 3X mark up.
I think a low estimate (judging on you numbers) if we are being realistic would still have us netting 3mill a game.
