Can we rename this thread with the correct "TRADE DEADLINE BONANZA 2017!" title, please. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, this thread title is seriously weak. 

People seem to be clamouring over Brendan Smith from the Wings if we deal Ceci. Not sure about that, but if it means we deal Ceci for someone great, then proceed Mr Dorion.

Thread title was terrible, I agree. I thought SSF was gonna do it this year, then he didn't, then I did it on the phone. Bad times were had.

Count me among those people. B. Smith is a nice player. More physical and a better skater than the Cecer.

Let us never speak of the poor thread title ever again. Shame on us all.

There's no such thing as a "wrong thread" when asking for The Ducher to come to Ottawa.

It's a tough call to deal Ceci and replace him with Smith. What would Smith cost?  A 2nd rounder or equivalent prospect?  Then he's UFA. 

So much of this plan hinges if Phaneuf will allow himself to be exposed to the expansion draft allowing us to protect Ceci or Wideman....It gives me a headache thinking of the possibilities. If this is for sure our "go for it" year, then yeah, do the deals I suppose.

We should NOT expose Phaneuf and he won't allow it I don't think. I'm coming to terms with losing Methot sadly. Just get a decent D-man who can play in this system and acquire Duchene.

I agree there are tough decisions ahead. Trading Ceci for a legit top 6 forward is the easiest one, IMO.

I guess that's why we're not GMs though,  Ceci plays big minutes and tough minutes against team's top lines.  So fing tempting to deal him, 1st and white for Duchene and ask Colorado to toss us something back that we can use to acquire a veteran, mobile dman.  Hainsey  would have been perfect.

I'd hate to be Ceci right now in Ottawa. I'm sure he's feeling like he should be packing his bags right about now. It's pretty evident that dorion is being aggressive in trying to make this deal go through.

I have my doubts though on wether this is our year or not. I feel our time will come In about 2 or 3 years when white and chabot are playing on this team. I think the time is here where we are a playoff team every year now. I fully expect us to make it to the 2nd round, possibly past that.

Im all for a trade for duch, but I god damn hope dorion makes it happen without white.

Why is that evident? Dorion said himself that he's not "big game hunting." And although there's no reason to take his word on that, there's not much reason to believe he's trying to make a big move either.

Do you think hockey players are any different than us? They hear what is being said on twitter. They hear of the potential deals being put together when it's made public (Especially that this one hit trade center on tsn) .If we heard there was a deal getting closer with a package involving Ceci then you bet your Donkey he's aware of it also.

I'm not arguing that Ceci has heard the rumours, I'm just saying I'm not so sure it's "evident" that Dorion is really pushing for the Duchene trade.

Nothing Ceci can do but believe what Garrioch is saying and that's that dorion is not excited about trading ceci
