I don't know about that third line.

I don't know about that third line with Lazar, let along with Pyatt.

Like I said that's a far bigger issue than 6th or 7th D-Man but management doesn't see it the same way, I guess.

I agree and there's no way Dorion is gonna just sit there and let Lazar or someone else register 32 points or whatever, he's got way too much on the line.  We'll see how it turns out, but I 100% would be stunned if we don't sign someone to a PTO for the third line.  I just won't understand it.  Smith can't sustain his shooting %, Pageau is awesome, so there's that, but the right wing is completely void of any prospect of offense.
I don't know about a PTO but there might be a trade out there. We seem to be void of a spot on the RW. Maybe package puempel with something else for another offensively minded RW. Maybe one of the many PTo's on other teams if they don't sign them or we get to them first.
But for sure we need someone and most of our guys that are trying to make it are LW, maybe they get a shot on the right?
I fully expect smith to regress this year.

Smith will definitely regress. Still, if he can manage 15 or so goals, that's a significant drop but it's still great production from a 3rd line LW.

I don't think there's really a trade out there to be made unless we're willing to take on $$. They must have really disliked Pirri, Fleishmann etc, because I thought some of those guys had some merit.

The void on the RW might drag that line down something fierce. It's not out of the realm for Lazar to come in and do well under Boucher, but I think he's a project offensively.

Well that's kind of it. Smith will likely regress and I'll be happy if he actually gets 15 and then you have pageau but you need someone on the right to make up for the loss in production from smith's declined goal total. You need another guy that will get 15. We need three offencive lines and pageau won't be able to do it all himself.

Wow. From his staff infection or something different I wonder.

Reason wasn't released, Boudreau said he didn't know the reason (a lie for sure) or if he was done with the Wild.

Any overnight PTO signings? PTFlea?

No PTO signings, but Lazar has mono. Guess he starts the season on the IR and then down to Bingo for a significant conditioning stint (I'll take 50 games). Pyatt slides up to the 3rd line.

Interesting, I went looking for depth charts and found this (new?) one:

http://www.rosterresource.com/nhl-ottawa-senators/

Never heard of rosterresource before. They have Pyatt on the 3rd line with Lazar as an extra skater already.

Do you really think Pyatt sticks on the 3rd line, though?

Pyatt has Boucher's trust and that can go a long way. But if Lazar is out long-term they may need to sign someone. Say what you will about his offense, Lazar has 2 full years in the NHL so he is way ahead of most other prospects in that way.

You might see a scenario where pageau plays the right side for a bit imo. Paul diwn the middle perhaps. I don't really know what else they could do, put a guy on his off wing I guess, like Puempel maybe

I think I'm slow lu getting used to your keyboard Smile

I don't mind Gordie. He is what he is and doesn't try to be what he isn't. Unlike Dean who thinks he is a stand-up comic sometimes.

That http://www.rosterresource.com/nhl-ottawa-senators/ has a lot of info at a glance. Of the likely starting roster the Sens have 11 Canadians in their top-12 forwards, 4 more in their top-six defensemen, and one goalie. So 16 out of 20. Grapes would be pleased. Also, in their lineup, they have 4 of their own 1st round picks and 7 more from rounds 3 and later. They have *zero* of their own 2nd round picks -- remember I mentioned a while back how they haven't done very well picking in the 2nd round?

Mark Stone has a concussion. I'd love to hear how he got it.
