That's a lot lower than some * cough* SSF*cough* where thinking he would be at. Sarcasm

For what it's worth, that's about what I thought he would get...
Taking the opportunity for a little "I knew it"

Indeed! I'm off to England on Friday and we better have some sort of hockey when I'm back early September. When does the World Cup start?

Yeah I said no less than 3.5 while most had it less than what he signed for.

My thoughts on the ceci deal: Very fair. I actually thought $3M would be the cap hit on a 2 year deal so the fact that Ceci agreed to a bit lower is pretty good indicator of the sens' stance on his value. Definite prove-me contract.

I can't be arsed to look up my projections since I can't remember where it posted on but I think I said roughly at 2.5

The part here is that his final year is at 3.35$ so he won't be able to be qualified at a lower cap hit.

It's a little bit more than I hoped (ideally would have been $2.5M x 2, no bump-up in year 2); giving him $3.35M in year two is also a little higher than I wanted but it's under $3.5M, at least.

Yeah, I'm cheap. so what, wanna fight about it?

I certainly hope Ceci needs to be qualified at $3.35. If he progresses, next contract should net him at least $5M, and that's good for us.

Ah, what the heck.

SSF said Ceci won't sign until he squeezed Dorion for every last buck. PTFlea said how could he squeeze a penny over $2.65M. SSF replied that Cowen got $3.1M.

Does this mean that Flea was predicting $2.65M and SSF something at or above $3.1M.

I was hoping for $5M on a 2 year deal.

Guess we were all off. Flea was pretty close ($2.65 versus $2.8 AAV).

This. Exactly right. If we're worried that the QO is too expensive, he's a bust. I certainly hope he earns a bump to $5+ on the next contract.

So, the Sens are at $67M against a $73M cap. I think they're in great shape to add at the deadline if there's cause to do so. Dorion is clearly willing to pull the trigger on a deal to make the team better.

In fairness to me I meant $3.5m CAD. IN which case I was pretty spot on.

The Ceci signing was the most 'meh' news of the summer. It was exactly what most thought. I looked at it and shrugged.

Now to address that L3 RW. I'd much rather Lazar on L4 to start the year. Hudler would have been perfect IMO

Would he ever have been perfect. I assume he wanted to go somewhere that he deemed a contender? No idea, maybe we just don't have the money and want to fix the 3rd pairing D. But...so many teams passed on Hudler at that price that there must be something to it.

I dunno anymore....maybe they'll just invite some guys on PTOs and call it a day. If Lazar is to start out at 3RW, then we need someone other than Chris Neil on the 4th line or in the press box who can step in and take the role if he falters offensive. Lazar can play the game, and well, but he sure as Dung can't score right now.
