You're not thinking old enough:

Redden? Gonchar? Lidstrom?

Ya, there aren't exactly a lot of young defensemen available to sign in mid-August.

I like Bartkowski for that bottom pairing.

That would work for me.

Almost forgot Chelios. If he can fix his walker in time for camp.

I thought Quincy could be ok but now I'm not sure anymore. Seindenberg also sounded good but if he cut the mustard in Boston then I'm not sure here is a better landing spot. I think a couple of PTO's are in order to see if anyone can steal a spot.

I don't see why they'd bring in a D. Karl, Methot, Phaneuf, Ceci are locks. Wideman, Claesson, Sieloff, Boro, Chabot, Harpur, Englund, Kostka to fill out bottom pair. I'd much rather focus on bringing in Hudler tbh.

That's a playoff team for sure

Agreed 100 percent. I think we're just going by what Dorion said and it doesn't seem like he wants this glaring deficiency on the 3rd line.

Honestly I'd rather see them give Chabot a good look and Claesson a shot. Claesson put in his time. And at 8-10 minutes a night I think they'll be fine with Wideman, Sieloff, Kostka, Boro, Claesson

I think they might actually feel like Tom Pyatt or Mike Blunden are credible candidates for the 3rd line. Which is ridiculous when you have the likes of Hudler waiting for a contract.

2014-15 was a mirage. Hudler is 2 years and 2 teams removed from that season and is on the wrong side of 31. Playing 2nd line, sure, he'll get 20 goals and add 30 assists. Maybe even a bit more. Stone had better numbers than that even though he played 15 games or so with a one-legged center, and he is still on an up-slope (plus he's a puck-stealing beast). Stone is a lot closer to a 1st liner than a 3rd liner.

Right Wing we have Stone/Ryan/Lazar/Neil followed by Dzingel/Robinson/Blunden/Stortini (not sure of that order). If there's an injury in the top-six I'm OK with Lazar stepping in for a few games. If it's a longer-term injury then, yes, you need to get someone better.

Bigger need is still on the left side because of the uncertainty with MacArthur.

Yes I'd personally love to see someone like Hudler added to that third line but doesn't seem like dorion sees that lazar is a bit of a gamble in that spot.
I like the idea of a vet rounding the bottom pairing spot also though. No garante wideman or Boro have good showing this year and rather have someone that's a bit more proven in there. There's bound to have injuries too and if we have to see Kostka come up then we are likely in trouble.

Kris Russell is STILL out there?? Laugh1 He's about as dumb as Luke Richardson expecting to get a head coaching gig and not settling for anything less.

I could see Senators inviting Seidenberg on a PTO. He's slowed down and I bet they want another veteran on the back-end. Seidenberg would be perfect if he's still got the goods, IMO.

That's IF he can still play at that speed. We're a fast team on top of it.

That's a lot lower than some * cough* SSF*cough* where thinking he would be at. Sarcasm

For what it's worth, that's about what I thought he would get...
Taking the opportunity for a little "I knew it"

Indeed! I'm off to England on Friday and we better have some sort of hockey when I'm back early September. When does the World Cup start?

Yeah I said no less than 3.5 while most had it less than what he signed for.
