Allen has no future as a number one. The blues wouldn't have mad it far without Elliott's stellar play.

Allen stinks. Always has. Anderson won't be winning any cups either due his his mental state and averageness. Sens have Hogberg, Oconnor, and Hammond and can easily snag another goalie soon with expansion draft coming.

I like Anderson but goalies are really a dime a dozen. For the same reason, you might as well keep him since you'd get nothing for him anyway.

Ottawa will be in a good position goaltending wise when the expansion draft rolls around. I believe they'd be wise to trade for some other goalie that will otherwise be unprotected, protect that guy, and then leave Anderson and Hammond exposed.

For example, the Lightning will have to leave one of Bishop or Vasilevski unprotected (Bishop, most likely, if he's still there).

I think bishop goes to another team this summer. I also really think stamkos won't be worth a dime over 9 million, if he's even worth that

What someone is worth to a team and what they're paid doesn't always line up. Look at Andy MacDonald, for example.

Anderson is the single biggest reason we've made the playoffs and even won a round against Montreal.  We might have even won the second one if Hammond didn't start.

St.Louis and Dallas are two teams who have been held back when their goaltending isn't as good as their opponent.  Look at SJ now that they don't have to rely on Niemi.  Look at Pittsburgh without FLOLeury.

Goaltending isn't overrated and certainly not on this team and the defense corps we put out in front of Andy.  I wouldn't pay a ton for goaltending but I wouldn't go cheap or try a 1A-1B system like Dallas either.

Maybe if we played a Hitchcock style defense which would make someone like Elliott look good.  But we don't.

I'm not sure about relying on the expansion draft. I think a lot of teams will be making moves in anticipation of it and not losing assets for nothing.

I suppose it all depends on what kind of player he is at this point. If he's a 60 goal guy then he's worth a max contract. If he's a 64 point guy, then he isn't.

Hammond has been better than Anderson for over a year now. That's the issue. And Anderson is getting old. I don't agree that he's been amazing, his numbers are propped up by high shot totals.

Also we will be tighter defensively this season.

as for the bolded, that's the point. We would trade for a goalie who teams don't want to lose.

Anderson is a very solid goaltender, I think you underrate him badly Ev. That said, I understand your point, goaltending is good enough now that it shouldn't make or break the team.

He does have a point. I really don't have an answer about Hammond's piss poor SV% when short-handed, but he's been very good at ES. Anderson stole some games, true, but what is, exactly, do you think the role of a goaltender? Your number 1 is supposed to steal a few games, it's expected, even for the better clubs.

I've said this before, you see guys like Quick and Crawford in the hightlight reel a ton. They play for great teams, yet have to make mind boggling saves and bail their teams out. Maybe that's part of the reason why they are great teams. Anderson had a horrible time giving up goals at the wrong time.

The conference final goalies were Brian Elliott, Matt Murray, Andrei Vasilevskiy, and Martin Jones.

Exactly!

If it wasn't for Hammond (and the way the team played in front of him) we would not have made the playoffs at all.

Even if Anderson was in goal the first two games the Sens still lose that series because Stone was playing with a sore wrist (couldn't shoot, couldn't pass), everyone was exhausted, refs had a quick whistle.

Oh, and "perfect shot, 12" off the ice, just inside the post" -- or, as described by every analyst, an "AHL goal".
