Don't forget every guy on waivers, ever.
In his defense, he's cooled off waivers quite a bit.

Lazar. Remember how "fantastic" he was game in and game out. Oh, and the greatest coach ever "Mac."

wprager wrote:No, Lazar looked just like Zibanejad did (playing safe, afraid to make a mistake), except he was not shipped back to Junior after 9 games. To say that "Lazar looked great" is a complete fabrication.

Again though, MacLean was amazing until he completely forgot how to coach. No if ands or buts, the guy must have had some medical issue where he forgot how to coach, it was horrible towards the end of his tenure here.
And Lazar looked great to start his career here. But there was no offense from him, if that had developed properly, he would be one of the NHLs top young guns, but obviously it hasn't and that renders him fairly redundant right now, so hopefully it comes.

For some reason he decided to reverse his strategy and become a hardass. Obviously, that didn't sit well with the captain (who requested a trade at the end of the season). He talked about it. Stupid decision, but whatever. I'm optimistic about the coaching now.

Hoags wrote:LOL yeah MacLean actually pushed the team to be better and that was in strict violation of the rules of the Ottawa Senators Country Club.
Although he lost a lot of leadership in that room with Alfie's departure. Jason Spezza captain lol, almost forgot that actually happened.

That's a bit reductive. He said himself that he drastically changed his style and that caused him to lose the room. I'll take his word for it.

Maybe the roster just isn't good enough and there's not enough depth. Turris is not a first line centre and outside of Karlsson we don't have a first pairing D. Anderson is a good goalie and could win for us with a better lineup. Coaching only helps you over achieve or maybe get over a hump. It's not going to improve this roster.

I could be convinced that he'd be a decent player on a 2nd liner's salary, but anything over about $4-4.5M and I'm going to be real unhappy.
Of course, this is Eklund, so it's almost certain that he made it up while sitting on the crapper.
