Sorry, you're wrong. A player can score a goal in the first period to make a game 1-0 (or 2-1 or 3-2 or 5-1 or 4-0 or whatever) and have it end up being the GWG. You could also pot an empty netter and then have that be the GWG too...It has nothing to do with being clutch or a "big game" player.
What about an OT goal in a winner-take-all gold-medal game? Is that clutch?
