So the Isles' on-ice issues (holding on to that last Wildcard spot) are the least of their concerns. Apparently the move to Brooklyn is an unmitigated disaster. They are 29th in the league in home attendance, averaging just over 12K per game. Fans hate the new arena because of the bad sight lines and traffic.

wprager wrote:Very weird story out of the OHL.  The Flint Firebirds' coaching staff was fired by the owner, who apparently did not think his son -- a 16-year-old D-men with the club -- was getting enough ice time.  After the coaches got fired all the players -- including the owner's son -- handed in their jerseys and quit.  They apparently wrote on a blackboard that they would return if the coaching staff returned.

The coaches have been rehired and given 3 year contracts. I hope the owner is feeling like a Smartass .

Lower in status, or just short?

You have to give the team a few years to switch things around as far as getting new fans from the area. It's not relocation really but kinda.

I thought they had worked out a transportation deal.

The new arena is terrible for hockey though...some of the seats don't give you a view of one of the nets. Atrocious.

I've heard that some seats have a load-bearing post in the immediate view (instead of, y'know, a hockey rink). Not great.

Oh that's awful! Hahaha. Not much you can do about that. But apparently they knew all that when they chose the location. Ridiculous.

They could argue that making "Gretzky's Office" a little bigger (a.k.a. moving the goal lines closer to the blue lines) would increase offense.

He's 400 years old, but he'd look good on ZBad and Ryan's left wing.

Not coming here. Staying west coast or NYC.

Besides I don't think we need him. Dman. Focus.
