I'd love to win more than half of our face offs. But who do you move over to wing, then? We have Zibanejad, Turris, Pageau, Lazar, Legwand -- all centers. Smith should be back soon making it six. So, which three would you move to wing?

Vermette can play wing

Also doesn't sound like smith is coming back this year

I don't think we're going to trade for any rental player.

To circle back on that Clarkson trade, that's some inventive cap circumvention right there. Still, though, the NHL would be punishing Colombus if they didn't allow it to go through, since the BJs didn't insure Horton's contract and have to pay every cent of it to a guy that'll never play again.

As someone said on Twitter, I take solace in knowing that it was Colombus' idea and not Toronto's.

Vermette has always been a Senator at heart. He'd be coming back home to complete his career. Not a rental.

How long did it take the NHL to reject the Kovalchuk contract Sens fine the Devils? Could still do it to Toronto. They won't, but they could.

Why not?

I think Legwand will end up being the consolation prize to one of the losers in the Vermette sweeps.

Working hard to get a deal done today? Looks like panic has set in. I hope the Senators somehow reap the benefits.

Allegedly the Blackhawks were targetting Vermette pretty hard. Jagr would've been a good addition for them, but Florida beat them to it.

Funny to hear the Montreal morning show guys scoffing at the Jagr deal. Highly entertaining.

Jagr probably wouldn't be the right guy to add in ALL situations, but it's tough to beat his combination of experience, talent, and size. It also sounds like he's been pretty good in the locker room the past couple years too. Pretty much the ideal rental.

Vermette and I think Lebrun said they were kicking the tires in skinner.

Likely at 50% retained which would be about 2.65. So greening off sets the next 2 years of that, then you have clarkson at 2.65.

Still...at what point is anything an overpayment for a turd with skates?
