rumour has it horton is planning to retire after this year which would remove his cap hit from the leafs. the leafs lose that huge awful clarkson contract and if horton does retire they get a lot of cap space back

They don't get his cap hit even if he doesn't retire. He's on long term injured reserved. The savings is immediate.

Why would he retire. Leave 26M on the table, no chance. He should continue to be paid by the leafs and go work in the department of player safety.

Yah I don't think he's going to just let how ever many millions go but I am unfamiliar with the rules and practices in place for injured players.
