I just don't think our "young guns" are as high a calibre as some think.
And while I don't think a roster with an average age of 35 assures success, I suspect that our current crop of youngsters will get better (dramatic pause) with age.
It's not just age, it's age and experience. I wonder how one gains both in this league? By playing, maybe?
I suppose I should have spelled that out. I thought it was an easy assumption.
Hence, why you play Lazar over Legwand, Boro over Phillips, and so on. We're a super young team, and we're going to be like that for a while -- HAVE to be like that for a while if you are of the opinion, as our management clearly is, that our kids are going to be good NHLers in due time. What this fan base needs more than anything at this stage is patience.
