From http://senschirp.ca/news/monday-news-and-notez/

-It should come as no surprise but it seems like every team Bryan Murray talks to lately asks about Curtis Lazar.  Buffalo, Phoenix and Edmonton have all asked about Lazar at different times this season.  Obviously it would take a pretty special trade for the Senators to even consider moving Lazar though.

Can any of you wrap your head around a scenario where young Lazar gets dealt?

I could see Lazar getting dealt if it was ridiculous, and would likely have to involve a 1st rounder.

Taylor Hall... Edm's 1st... about it. There's nothing else worth trading Lazar for other than that.

Maybe Leon Draisaitl... one for one. Probably could use him a little more than Lazar.

That seems about right. I read that and I couldn't think of anything Buffalo would have that would justify them even asking for Lazar.

I would take Reinhart but BUF wouldn't do that

It's a bit of a process. Tim Murray keeps turning down our offers even though Bryan Murray keep bumping up the offer a bit afterwards. I think what gets it done will be both 2nds and "Sugar" Shane Prince.

stay tuned

That would be a turrible deal. Anyways, Stewart will be going to a contender.

Yeah Boston is apparently the leading suitor.

Stewart is worth no more than a 3rd at this point. Probably the asking price which Ottawa doesn't have. Anything more is highway robbery for a UFA with 21 points and a staggering -30

Reinhart... yah maybe but I don't think either team really does that. Fact is Ottawa needs a LH center pretty badly.

This. He never was worth what Timmy thought.

Marc Methot sure sounds like a guy who wants to stay in Ottawa. Spoke optimistically of the Sens future and his close ties to Erik Karlsson

Methot strikes me as kind of a phoney. I wouldn't put any stock into anything he says. He can show how much he wants to stay with a stroke of the pen.

If I was him, I wouldn't sign with Ottawa unless they hit the 5 million X 5 year mark. Can't/won't do it? Fine, I'll move on.

If Stewart is worth a 3rd then it's gonna be comical to see what Neil gets

I'll say Spooner + 3rd round pick for Stewart.

I am against the 5 x 5 year deal Methot wants but I'll say this, winning teams invest in their bluelines and right now Ottawa's has to be close to the cheapest in the NHL.

Serious question: would you rather have a lazy slug like Stewart on a long playoff run, or Chris Neil?

Well that's that. SJ acquired Nabokov, so their goaltending problems are solved! Sarcasm

Serious answer: Chris Stewart without question. Plus, he's a UFA so you're not tied to him next year. He's better in every facet of the game even if he's not the greatest. He can score goals for you. Chris Neil can't.

Every facet of the game except getting dirty, hitting, checking, effort. But yeah, I guess if you want a guy who might show up some of the time, then Stewart's the guy.

Stewart can do all those things better than Neil... that's not the question. The will to do them night after night is.

Neil:

a) More responsible game
b) Signed next year ($1.5M salary)
c) Plays with his heart

Stewart may be more talented but he doesn't have the intangibles Neil brings.
