Wouldn't say he's a tweener... would say he's Prince with a little more jam. Not sure a late first or 2nd would be better than a somewhat developed prospect.

It's going to be a huge hole.

Zack Kassian. He's exactly the type of player that can fill a Neil type role with the added ability of scoring 20 goals at some point in the NHL. He's an obtainable player.

I'd be willing to try that.

As long as people don't expect the guy to be a 25-30 goal guy capable of being on the first line night after night he can slip into a very similar role that Neil had with more upside.

Kassian is a year or two to really figuring it out in the NHL... maybe Vancouver waits but if they don't and keep scratching him then he's a guy the Sens need, more so than E.Kane. He's a bit of a hot head but again his game will mature if he's given a defined role that he's actually capable of playing.

In Vancouver the idea was to play him with the Sedin's and score 25-30 goals... that were unobtainable expectations for a then 21 year old winger on a team expected to compete for the Cup. In Ottawa, he's going to be a guy in the mix who's job will be to finish his hits, stay calm, and score the occasional goal and anything more than that is just gravy.

What's the price? Not sure but I would be looking at him before a guy like E.Kane.

If the Sens do trade for E.Kane I will keep an open mind but I expect that to completely blow up in any teams face that doesn't have a great night life and big time media center.

Well I don't think we'll be the team to aquire kane. Some other team will overpay I feel. For his sake he'd be better off in a city that doesn't focus on players.

Frustrating - you don't want this to drag out in case of injury. Especially a physical player like Neil, though it is hard to get hurt playing six minutes a night.

I know teams are interested in Neil - as they should be - but I really don't see him being traded this year, for the same reasons I don't think Phillips will be traded this year.  They just don't want to leave...yet.

Can you imagine the circus following the Sens if Bobby Ryan had not signed?

im happy we didn't have to go through that circus. at this point i believe Neil is going to be traded. the extra year on his contract is a favourable thing to other teams right now. nost teams would like to keep him past this year i would think. Phillips is a bit trickier.
I find it suprising how much of a decline there is in his play between last year and this one. I mean he had been declining but he always seemed to regain a bit of form after a decline. I think he could be effective on a team who has a solid solid top 4-5. he can be that guy that comes in with good leadership.
i think on a team like that they might be willing to take on the extra year but we will see. apart from those 2 there's a very big question mark on anyone else getting moved. we can all hope legwand gets moved but that's not looking great.

Much of the decline is not (at least doesn't appear to be) physical. He's just making poor decisions and then he's not fast/strong enough anymore to make up for the mistakes.
