I want Pavelski, I wonder what we'd have to add to get him.  A whole bunch I bet.

Really? Pavelski wouldn't be my #1 choice. I'd prefer Couture

Yeah, but you're not getting Couture under any circumstances, Pavelski you might be able to pry. Or not, I'm not really sure.

LOL. No way SJ moves two of their best players. I would like Toews and Chicago is having cap problems.

Fair enough, it's really no use trying to guess. We'll hear names out there at some point.

Also all this talk about trimming the fat with Wiercioch, I thought he showed much better speed in the last game.  I haven't been keeping an eye on him but some time earlier in the season he looked like he was lumbering down the ice.  Last game, while I wouldn't say he was "flying" he was certainly at the same level as Methot and Cowen.  I wonder if he could have been nursing an injury.  Remember there was one time he was sat out, earlier, and they said he was injured, and we all thought they were just rotating people through the IR to make room.

Fact is we're sitting 2 defencemen a night, with another 2 defencemen in the minors that can probably handle NHL minutes.

I think Robinson is the perfect 4th line player. We'll be losing more toughness if Neil gets traded so it's only natural to fill the Greening/Neil and potentnially Smith void with Robinson.

I am not even sure Prince gets a shot with Ottawa. Our roster is pretty jam packed as it is, let alone adding Paul, our top 10 from this year, and Puempel in the mix.

Robinson isn't tough. If he had an edge he'd probably be up here by now.

Really? He's 6'5 235lbs and he's not tough? I'm not proposing he drops the gloves - but we need someone who can hit and play in the dirty zones. I didn't watch all the game last night but it seemed like Ryan was in on Ovechkin after he went after Karlsson. Where was Neil in all of this?

Neil was on the bench. Methot was the first to "talk" to Ovechkin, but that's all he did. Ryan jumped him. Didn't really do anything more than fall down with Ovechkin but he was the only one who did anything. Wish we have a couple more like him.

NEELY wrote:Moving Anderson is an offseason move, no way does it get done at the deadline. Sens have him signed for 3 more years and if they decide to trade him they have lots of time to do so.

A team like Edmonton still makes the most sense.  Maybe San Jose.

If a #1 on a contending team went down with a serious injury then Anderson would be a hot commodity. Imagine Carey Price tears his ACL. If you were the Sens, would you move Anderson to a Divisional rival and, if so, for what? Actually, extend that to Price, Rask, Bishop.

Montreal would never make that move...

Again only team in contention I can see making a move for a goalie is San Jose.

I'm going to go with this as well.

In San Jose maybe you get a pick and a guy like Hurtl, maybe their 1st rounder... you are not getting a core piece of that team who wants to and has to win now.

Not big news, not important news, but man Bobby Ryan has instantly become one of, if not my favorite Sen. I am fond of the heart and soul type guys but Ryan is a nice mix of everything with that super star type skill. Aside from the Chara/Spezza trade the Ryan trade is the best in the Sens history.

Don Brennan asked Bobby Ryan if they would want Evander Kane, and he said NO before asking Brennan not to print that. He then clarified that he wouldn't want to give up anyone in the room to get him. Pretty clear how the NHL feels about Kane at this point.

There are better options out there then Kane for sure. That's something that Murray could probably do if he wanted to but he would take it back to the leadership group before any kind of move was made.

Again I look at a guy like Kassian that might be able to come in and play a similar, maybe more physical role and less skilled but still a guy that has a lot of room to grow. He's not the best example of a guy that has succeeded thus far but a guy where you see potential, been put is some pretty crappy spots even if they seem like can't miss (playing with the Sedin's), and a guy that really needs a specific role to succeed. In Otttawa, if they move Chris Neil that spot, role, and that position... that's exactly where you want Kassian and exactly what this team needs.

If by chance Kassian turns into a 20 goal guy (and the potential is 100% there) than you have a guy capable of scoring 15 every year, taking 100 PIMs, and really giving the Sens a much more physical and tough identity. He's also a guy you could potentially have for a decade.

Anyways, we'll see what happens but that's the player that's on the outs, having a tough time, and shutting his yap about it. He's a little nuts but most of those guys are and with some maturity and again the right role he would be a huge asset to the Sens.

I wouldn't mind Kassian but having lots of PIM isn't a good thing exactly. He is also good friends with and from the same area as Puempel.

Strickland is tweeting that Neil has submitted his list of 15 no-go teams, which includes NYR and STL. According to him the Preds are aggressively pursuing him. Wonder how Rogers' House would feel about losing their second ambassador in a row to the same team.

You can expect the pro-tank crowd to be out in full force tonight. A Columbus win combined with a Leafs win (haha) drops the #Sens to 26th.

Not going to happen. But 26th would give them 41.7% better odds at winning the lottery. Sounds like a lot, but it's really moving up from 6% to 8.5%. Still a very long shot.

Glad to hear. I find there was a two camps when he first arrived in town. A bunch of people were ready to find any flaws in him. I think he's done everything to put the sceptic wrong. He played through injuries, he's shown he can play harder, even sacrifice his body. He's showing he can go on a tear. All that's left to see if he can maintain that 30 goal average in ottawa or even reach 40'
Personally I'm happy we have a guy like him in Ottawa as they come too often.
Murrays trade legacy has to be topped by bobby and Kyle. Maybe he has another gem to top it off.

Phillips wasn't on the ice -- we already knew he's not playing tonight. Looks like Wiercioch is the other scratch on D. Pageau also scratched.

Lazar has played in 36 games. Tonight will be 37. If he plays 40 games that counts as a year of service when determining free agency (and arbitration rights?) eligibility. Game 39 would be the next home game, next Thursday against Pittsburgh. Game 40 would be next Saturday's home game against the Oilers. I wonder if Cameron will sit him out against Pittsburgh and then make the Oilers game #39.

It's hard to argue that he'd have been better off playing in Edmonton this season. Scoring 2 goals in nearly 40 games is not exactly instilling a lot of confidence. I'd be really surprised if they didn't send him back after 39 games.

Cameron said in a presser earlier this week that Lazar would be here for the rest of the season.

He already did that before the season started.
