We're probably at the point where we've already promoted the best prospects (see the floundering Bingo SENS) and it's time for another deal or two for more established players to better support these youngsters and accelerate their development.
LET'S DO IT!!!

It's in Columbus.

Let's not forget that the only thing we really gave up for Ryan was a 1st rd pick. Silfverberg is a top-nine forward who we sold 'high'. He's done virtually nothing since joining Anaheim. Noesen, right now and at the time of the trade, was nothing more than a prospect with injury problems. We got killed on the 1st since it was assumed our 1st rd pick would be a lot later (thinking we would make the playoffs with the Spezza-Ryan combo). I imagine any 'Ryan' type deal is either a 1st and a prospect, or a 2nd, prospect, and roster player. We also have to consider that Euge is about to buy out Greening and probably doesn't want to add salary without some going back the other way.
We have to assume ROR, Eberle, Boedker are on the Sens radar. Not really sure who else is willing to part with a top-six forward at this time a year.
Ottawa 1st (top five pick), Wiercioch, and Puempel probably gets the Eberle/ROR deal done. Not sure if I would do it.
I'll just say this... is Lehner worth Pitts 1st round pick this year? I think that is a pretty solid trade off for both sides and a nice piece that Ottawa can deal at some point. I think that's about as even value as you will find for Lehner.
Uh...a 25th OV pick for Lehner? No thanks. Also...didn't they trade that pick for Perron. No, no , no. Don't sell low on Lehner or we'll regret it as an org for the next decade.
Flo The Action wrote:I believe no matter how not sexy a move it is we have to sit tight o our youth and that includes Lehner. if management is getting antsy on that position and is trying to accelerate the process as the peril of our future then they maybe have drunk too much of their koolaid and need to step back. we need to capitalize on the assets that aren't going to be part of the solution going forward. Anderson IMO falls into that category. Phillips, Neil, Z smith. some don't have much value but better then trying to trade good assets for emediate returns when the team isn't ready to perform at that level. The only trades that i want are the ones who are likely to payoff 2-3 years down the road or are possible gambles. once we've made some of these maybe we can try and identify a trade for some vet leadership with a winning predigry to come in.
also our young payers are likely to gain value once they start performing more consistently.
patience.

Lehner has shown flashes of brilliance but has been average at best otherwise. I wouldn't trade Anderson until we know 100% that Lehner can play 60 games a year and win 35-40 of them. Until then, you stay the course and play the better of the two goalies.
Our depth is our strong point from a trade perspective. You look at our roster next year and the year after and start identifying who doesn't fit in with the long term plans. Do Puempel, Robinson, Prince, Pageau, Grant have a spot with this team? Do Wideman and Claesson on the defensive end? If so, then you start moving out the guys who are taking up roster spots and start bringing the young guys up.
Who on our current roster isn't part of the core? Michalek, Legwand, Phillips, Neil, Smith, Condra, Greening. Are we okay losing one of Cowen, Zib, Hoffman, Stone, Ceci, Wiercioch to improve our roster? Also ask yourself, is Zib at $2.5M per year that much worse than ROR at $6M+ per year? Is Eberle worth $5M more a year than Stone? It's the whole price per point issue though. We're a good team, we're competitive, we just need that gamebreaker to put us over the top.

Agreed that we need a game breaking forward.
Lol, you put Wiercioch in the wrong sentence. I'm reading names like Hoffman, Ceci, stone and then you try to sneak in Wiercioch.
