This was already funny since there have been about 15 - 20 trades this season so far. Even funnier with yet another trade today with Dubnyk headed to Minnesota.

No, I meant impact trades.  Anyone can trade a Dubnyk, but few gms have the stones to make a real trade.

Lots of gms scared of the seguin trade IMO.   How many big trades were there this off season?

Spezza, kesler, Luongo, perron...

There must be others, but none that jump out.  I mean....who gives a Diddle about Dubnyk and guys like that?

Yeah so pretty easy to make a trade really.

Gms can make all the meaningless traded they want. Wake us up when someone has the stones to make a real trade.

How long have people waited for Edmonton to trade a piece of their core lol? Years.

Has anyone discussed yesterday's tweet citing LA's interest in Methot?

Wonder if they would consider Methot for Williams straight up

They are both UFAs. Would never happen anyway, LA is not going to trade a roster player for a rental.

negotiation with williams will apparently be put off till the end of the season. my guess is they can't afford to pay him what he's worth. with Voynov gone they are gonna need to give someone money to replace him. methot makes more than enough sense, the problem is that it leaves us with a pretty big hole.
I would gladly take williams but there has to be an understanding on him resigning with us.

I would love to have that guy, but I just don't see why he would sign here.

We need Methot, just resign the guy already.

maybe a bucket load of cash can help his decision? if there's any sense left in ottawa then they will at least try to bring in a guy like him. a difference maker. i'm afraid his time is done in LA.
5X5 sounds  about fair to me. sure he'll be 38 when that deal expires but I think he'll be worth it.

If you are going to trade Methot it's going to be for that teams 1st rounder. I'm not super high on Methot but I do realize the need for the Sens to resign him as there might not be a better option going forward so if they can't come to a deal they need to move him for that 1st. A team like LA doesn't need their 1st this year or even for a little bit, they are getting guys in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds who chip in and play big roles.

What you hope happens if Methot is traded is LA trades their 1st and then somehow misses the playoffs... that would be ideal.

Really? Looks like Ribiero may have shown enough desire to win against his greatest foe:

Great story, always impressed with people who can turn it around.  Future Senator?  Could be what the Dr ordered going into the off-season.

You have to be pretty gifted to put up the numbers he has, being absolutely tiny, and that Cussed up for so long. I'm not sure we'll ever see him in Ottawa as he will get a huge raise next year and we'll probably continue experimenting with youth and inexperience in the Top 6.

That's a good thought, how good of a player would he have been if he was clean? Look what he's doing this year.

Seriously though, if he has indeed turned it around and all the off ice crap is over with then Ottawa would be looking for that exact type of player in the off season and it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

Ribeiro's having a good year on a great team. I'd be surprised if he leaves Nashville, but we'll see.

If he agreed to waive his NTC to come here, Hossa would be the ideal veteran forward to bring in. Wouldn't cost a ton IMO, and he plays the game properly and with a great attitude.

Hossa's contract is too silly for The Euge to take on. It's legitimately a really bad contract.

He is in a good situation in Nashville for sure but like Nashville, Ottawa is kind of a laid back town and a good spot for a guy to just settle down. We'll see though, if he isn't resigned going into the off season I think Ottawa could make a play and they should if everything is on the up and up. For his sake I hope it is.

I just don't see Ottawa adding a veteran C. It would be a waste of time for the player (see Legwand) and the organization, which seems to want to stick with the same players in the same spots even though it doesn't work.
