I'd love to see Jagr on that line for the rest of the year. I bet the guy has at least one more year in him after. He'd tear it up with those two while letting Stone develop with Lazar and (insert LW).

Yes please.  Jagr is a tank with skill.
Seriously what is the fascination on here with players who are slow. Do you not watch western conference hockey. Speed kills in the league now. The game gets faster every year, watch the juniors today, all that speed is coming into the league. speed is more important than size now. Obviously big and fast is ideal, but there is a reason that guys like Hoffman can thrive today, Martin St louis used to be an exception, but you are going to see a bunch of guys his size coming into the league in the next couple of years.

Jagr is slow but can hold on to the puck like nobody else can. He would be a beast on the pp.

I see Oggie's point, though.  With tighter calling on obstruction/holding/hooking and high hits targeted for extinction, there's likely to be more room for smaller/faster players.

It would be interesting to see if this also affects larger defensemen (with more smaller players, very tall defensemen will be at a disadvantage w.r.t. trying to deliver punishing hits.

Why would we want jagr when we're likely missing the playoffs. It makes zero sense.

Spezza was good on the PP as well.

Would have been good to have him from the start.

Interesting that Methot might be back. If that's true we still have a chance.

This is legwand with filthy skill and a more solid frame. Speed is paramount, but jagr can do a lot of damage still.

Not sure what to think. He's played 2 games this year without any conditioning stint, so why is this different? Does he realize he needs it or did management tell him it's the only way he'll get back into the lineup? Because even his agent knows that he's not getting a nice, big, fat contract only playing two games this season. Coming back and only lasting two games has likely caused more damage to his chances for next season than staying out the whole year -- now he's not just injured but fragile.

As for him helping the Sens, a month ago would have been good. A case of too little, too late, I'm afraid. There are too many players having down years for one player to make a large enough impact in a half season.

Top ten, please.

JOB leaves the KHL to get back to the AHL, Hershey. Hershey claimed him off AHL waivers on Boxing Day. Apparently he needed a tonsillectomy and wanted to go to the States to get it done, but his KHL club insisted he get it done right there -- they basically gave him an ultimatum. With 2 goals in 22 games I don't think he was, exactly, in the driver's seat.

He's 25, still time to make it to the NHL. Do the Caps need a 4th line RW who can play some center?

Yeah, maybe. I think we can take a run for a WC with Methot, but we'll see I guess.

We'll need a lot of help from other teams, but it's not out of the realm of the possible. As reported here by yours truly, our schedule in Jan and Feb isn't overly tough and provides us a chance to make up some ground.

Ive given up on the playoffs this year. we're too inconsistent but i attribute that to the fact we have such a young team. it's a learning year. I think we have some good youth to build on, i wouldn't want us to trade a guy like stone or even chiasson just to try and make a run at making the playoffs. our depth on defense proved to be  necessary after all. we can pretty much kiss Methot goodbye unless he signs for much less or short term so we can eventually trade him and that wouldn't be a bad thing.

i'll enjoy watching the games this year and will find satisfaction in watching individual players progress but I think it would be to our advantage to not make the playoffs, get a good pick and just focus on development. will be interesting to see if BM moves a few bodies at the deadline

After this road trip ends in mid January, it will have been a stretch of about 17 of 23 on the road. The team had something like six or seven home games over a seven week stretch. If they can get on a run at home, there is a chance. The Sens go through California just before the trade deadline and I think those three games will indicate to management if they should go for it or not.

Lupul is on the IR, again. Blue Team's just about due for their annual slide out of the playoffs, just before they go on a run to make sure they don't get a good pick.

But Toronto sliding won't be enough to get the Sens in. They need to get ahead of the Leafs, Bruins and Caps.

Easy as pie old friend.
