That was brought up on the pre game show yesterday. If Paul is the 13th forward, then sending Lazar would bump him, and honestly, if you're the Sens you probably feel the experience would help Paul's development much more than Lazar's development.

If Lazar bumps Paul then the Sens won't send Lazar IMO, it would be contingent on a few things I would think.

1. If the Sens send Lazar then Paul makes the team in whatever respect.
2. Lazar is the captain.

Simple as that, remember the Sens are doing them a favour by sending Lazar, not the other way around.  Ball is 100% in the Sens court and they can ensure that Paul gets a spot he might not otherwise have gotten and Lazar is the biggest role player on the team being the captain and put up on the top line beside McDavid.

I think Paul has a better shot of making the WJC team with Lazar going than he would if Lazar didn't. It's all politics at this point.

Captain of a small tournament is pretty meaningless lol. I don't care if he's C or not.

No it isn't... not with that kind of pressure and atmosphere. Being the captain of this Canadian Team is a big deal and this is coming from someone who thinks this tournament is about the most overrated 2 weeks of hockey at any level.

Lazar has been loaned to Team Canada

This gives me more incentive to watch this tournament than it has in the last 5 years.

I will take bets on Paul being the 13th forward.

Paul will probably be a 4th line centre as McKenzie suggested

I'm actually a pretty fan of the Spengler Cup. With some Sens content I might check out the Jrs. this year. Or not.

Hope so, tourny like this is good for Paul, Lazar not so much but if he's given the role that everyone thinks he will be given then hopefully he embraces it.

Third hand info, but apparently Methot is dealing with a really bad scenario with his hip/hip socket that he played through most of last year with and tried to rehab in the summer. Sounds like he's about done for the year - if you're to believe this random post, but still...

This is a friend of a (Methot) friend type deal but I heard things are really bad for Marc. Apparently played all of last season with that hip tendon/ligament injury. Rested it ALL summer and things havent improved. A lot of rehab seemed to have helped a bit but after 2 games the pain was back. Basically, he's been dealing with this for almost 2 years now and there's been little to no improvement. Might even be something with his hip bone/socket too (this part was more speculation I think). It's sounding like his season could be over at this point. Now obviously things can still improve but it's not looking good. wrote:

There's some Sens content on Team Sweden too, as per normal, in big d-man Andreas Englund.

If true he's an absolute moron for turning down 20 million dollars. If it's that bad then he will have a tough time making the much in total for his career, not just his next contract. Got some really crappy advice from Kelly.

Well, I was wrong about Lazar. I guess they played hardball so we should see Paul there, as well. Speculation of course.

You know people will just be waiting to say "McDavid and Lazar - a sign of things to come" or something dumb like that

Word around the campfire is they had the deal in front of them and Methot balked slightly, but he wouldn't have passed the physical obviously. Thought he'd mend up and get a better deal, didn't realize this would happen (all 4th hand info).
