I didn't know what to expect coming into the season, thought they played pretty solid hockey out of the gate... not sure what's happened since that St.Louis game but like I have said a few times the vets have completely let this team down.

They need to make a move and Smith is the guy to move right now.

I could not watch this one but by the sounds like another frozen turd. Sounds also like hoffman making a case for more ice time and to stick to the top 6.
That guy... I'm not gonna repeat myself.

He's ok, still a perimeter player.

Pfft. Moving Smith would be a minor shuffle at most...at least it would be something though. There is no quick fix for this team. It might start next year with a new coach and maybe some legit free agent spending.

You don't need free agent spending. Just get a good system in place. Look at the Lightning, their roster is nothing special, just guys they drafted mostly and a couple of good vets.

This is a transition year, no question. Moving Smith though isn't a small move, it's a guy they developed and believed in, a guy they thought could be part of the core going forward but that's anything but the case. If there is a more replaceable player in the organization I don't know who it is.

And ottawa doesn't? Chris Phillips doesn't? Chris neil doesn't? Gye know what's going on, they're just in the twilight of their careers. Legwand is still solid, getting a vet in Methot is gonna be big...were still building a foundation here.

Disagree, he is playing with some jam, more so as the season progresses.

Free agent spending is only wise if there is a player who is both worth it and wants to play here. Trading is the best way to improve the roster.

Moving Smith brings Pageau up, which adds desperately needed speed to the team. Pageau may top out as a 4th liner but he is fast has some offence and can kill penalties.

Neil brings something to the team. He just needs his minutes limited.

There was a sequence in the 3rd where the Sens had the Islanders hemmed in for a long time and managed a change while maintaining the cycle. The Islander players were gassed but got the puck and the forward left Phillips in his wake. Phillips is so slow that I don't even get mad anymore I just feel sorry for him.

Phillips is actually completely out of place right now, you look at guys his age in the NHL right now and if they don't have tons of speed or something to really separate themselves from the rest they basically aren't playing anymore. Lecailvier is a good example. Neil is one of the few guys that can still play a role that are over 35.

Phillips is almost done as an NHLer, it's tough to watch because it truly isn't his fault.

How the Diddle is that trolling? Chris Neil isn't replacebale, easily? Do you even watch this team? He's almost completely done and we would be better with Condra in his place full time.

At least smith kills penalties.

There are lots of replaceable players on the roster, and there are replaceable players on cup winning teams. Obviously Chris Neil or phillips won't be replaced untitled they decided to quit so either greening, smith, Condra will be gone for sure
