Phillips is actually completely out of place right now, you look at guys his age in the NHL right now and if they don't have tons of speed or something to really separate themselves from the rest they basically aren't playing anymore. Lecailvier is a good example. Neil is one of the few guys that can still play a role that are over 35.

Phillips is almost done as an NHLer, it's tough to watch because it truly isn't his fault.

This is a transition year, no question.  Moving Smith though isn't a small move, it's a guy they developed and believed in, a guy they thought could be part of the core going forward but that's anything but the case.  If there is a more replaceable player in the organization I don't know who it is.

Chris Neil.

Not even close... need to try harder to troll everyone.

How the Diddle is that trolling? Chris Neil isn't replacebale, easily? Do you even watch this team? He's almost completely done and we would be better with Condra in his place full time.

At least smith kills penalties.

There are lots of replaceable players on the roster, and there are replaceable players on cup winning teams. Obviously Chris Neil or phillips won't be replaced untitled they decided to quit so either greening, smith, Condra will be gone for sure

I think we can all agree that the highlight of the night was "Question Period" featuring Bruce Garrioch.

This year is looking a lot like the Flames last year in their first real year without a long serving, core player. It's going to be a rocky ride the rest of the season but you just hope the prize at the end of the day is something pretty decent.

If there was ever a year to suck it's this year though lol.

Hard to win a Cup without superstars and God knows we could use another one.
At least the atmosphere is not as dead as in Edmonton. We could send them a few "hard working" guys and catch some of their young talented kids. Not like there would be any risk.

well it's never fun to suck it. how far do we have to drop to really draft an elite talent? top 5? not a fun year to end up there.  and even then, there could be another yak or two in there... remember people loosing their minds about adam larsson? ya, i bet NJ would pick someone else right now.

We won't suck. We're at worse a 9th, 10th team. I still expect playoffs

We give the puck away so much from net to red line it's laughable. Make it a drinking game of a drink every time we give it away in the defensive zone and someone would end up dead.

This made me laugh harder than it should have.

Don't forget that Giordano broke his ankle at the end of October and was out until early December. They were almost .500 after his return and especially strong starting from the third week in January.

The youth needs to play though and for that to happen the Sens need to make some moves to start clearing the roster.

Point was that this is a team searching for identity and they need help with that from management and ownership. I am happy they got all the players signed that they needed to, there are some top 6 vets to help this very young team along but they need some experience and solid minutes from someone on the back end (Phillips and Methot are not that guy) and someone in the organization that has a clear direction of what they want their team to be.

It's going to be a long year but it can still be a fun one if they start giving guys in Bingo a look on a consistent basis.

Boro is really solid. How strange to scratch a guy like that when Methot comes back.

Really hope they don't because Borowiecki and Karlsson look very solid together, let them play together. Like I have stated before I don't think there is a huge gap between Methot and Borowiecki at this point and I like what Borowiecki brings overall more than Methot, edge, physical play, and much more of a team first mentality. The salary makes it a no brainer.

you either play 7 D or take out Boro...no other choice really.

Think Phillips is an option but he's really not an option at the same time. Borowiecki has been fantastic so him coming out is doing a disservice to the team because "the best players, play".
