Really hope they don't because Borowiecki and Karlsson look very solid together, let them play together. Like I have stated before I don't think there is a huge gap between Methot and Borowiecki at this point and I like what Borowiecki brings overall more than Methot, edge, physical play, and much more of a team first mentality. The salary makes it a no brainer.

you either play 7 D or take out Boro...no other choice really.

Think Phillips is an option but he's really not an option at the same time. Borowiecki has been fantastic so him coming out is doing a disservice to the team because "the best players, play".

the best players do play so that's Methot. Again I am not even giving an opinion on Boro, I think it's just fact that he comes out, or even Ceci gets sat for a game or two.

That was more of a shot at Phillips, Borowiecki is a much better player at this point and it's pretty obvious. Methot should go in without question, wasn't implying anything in regards to that.

- We should have traded Phillips at the deadline. At this point, would the Bruins still be interested? Ottawa's problem isn't vet leadership - it's our vets underperforming. If there's interest I wouldn't hesitate to move Phillips - assuming Methot signs.

- Also happy to entertain a trade for Eberle considering his stock is at an all-time low.

- Can we still sign Da Costa and bring him back from the K? If so, he'd be a perfect 2C with Stone and Ryan on the wings.

Da Costa being a perfect 2C is a stretch. He needs to prove himself.

I think Da Costa should 100% get a look for a full season and see where he's at but stating he's a 2nd line center? Don't think so. At this point Da Costa could be a throw in if the right deal came along, Buffalo could be a team interested right there.

Da Costa has shown nothing at the NHL level to suggest he's ready to take on the burden of a 2C, something that's chewing and spitting out another young player in Zibanejad. That said, I agree, he should be here next year in the bottom 6 as a trial to see what he can do.

It's funny that the general consensus is Da Costa can't be a 2C. How is he any worse (statistically) than Zib, and what has Zib done to prove he should be a full-time NHL'er? Let's not forget Da Costa's time with Ottawa was predominantly on the 4th line whereas Zib has had every opportunity to play in a top six role and PP time.

Zib:
NHL: 142 games played
Points: 61
PPG: 0.43

AHL: 29 games played
Points: 18
PPG: 0.62

Da Costa:

NHL: 25 games played
Points: 11
PPG: 0.44

AHL: 159 games played
Points: 132
PPG: 0.83

it's not that he can't be a 2C MAYBE one day, it's that he wouldn't be if you added him. Zibanejad isn't a 2C right now either.

SDC could try out for the 3rd line if you ask me. the good thing about another year of legwand is that he can play the wing. so i'd sure give SDC a try. at this point you hope we part ways with a few players before next year to make room for some hungry kids

I have always maintained Da Costa is the most purely skilled forward in the organization but with that said he hasn't proven a thing in the NHL other than he probably deserves a season to show what he could be. I think the potential is there to be a 2C but I wouldn't count on it either.

I think everyone has pretty much the same opinion of Da Costa for the most part.

That game was a smouldering pile of dung. I can't believe they snuck a point. They were so outplayed it was laughable.

Not sure where those stats come from, but DaCosta had 47 games in the NHL, not 25. His PPG ratio is only .234 -- better check your "facts".
