Apparently a new list is coming from Spezza on July 1st.  Then it's up to Spezza and his agent to tell me to not deal with any teams on the list.

No, he shouldn't. Also people don't realize that most likely him and spezza agent disucsss what he is going to say to the media.

Best case scenario is Chicago for Sharp. Although, I'm just fine with Berglund straight up. I like the idea of getting a Center that can be a perfect insulator for Zib. He's Swedish, he plays 200 ft. and is an easy fit as 3C when Turris and Zib are healthy and playing well. If Zib struggles or isn't ready for bigger minutes, I'm intrigued to see what Berglund could do in a more offensive system with top line, offensive minded linemates.

personally i think the ship has sailed on Berglund. we need another player.

as far as chicago is concerned whatever salary they take in for spezza we'll have to take out coming back. they're 700,000 under the cap and that's not a lot of wiggle room going into the season.

could we see a deal that sees sharp and hjalma for spezza and one of either weir or cowen going the other way more or less?

cuz the way i see it and the way they're set up it's going to have to be NHL body for NHL body

You do know that Berglund has a major shoulder injury, right?

You do know that players routinely recover from all sorts of injuries with the help of their team's knowledgeable, well paid, highly trained medical staff, right?

Were you hoping for someone that's never had an injury?

It's not past injuries, it's a current injury that's the issue.

"Shoulder Surgery Likely On Tap For Blues' Berglund

(4/28/14) Patrik Berglund played with a severe shoulder injury during the postseason, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. "

He hasn't had the surgery, yet. Don't know if it's planned or not.

Are their rules for trading an injured player?

If he needs surgery, he'll get it, and it will be the best medical care a multi-million dollar organization with a trained sports medical team can provide. If he doesn't need it, then he won't get it. Really nothing to get worked up about.

As for trading injured players, to my knowledge, there are no rules against it. You can't waive an injured player, but nothing stops you from trading him if he doesn't have a no-trade or no-movement clause. When we traded for Leclaire, he was injured, for instance.

The only thing good about the Leclaire trade was it got us Robin Lehner.

Neither can I. Fisher loves it there. Jason York said it was the best place he ever played.

I guess Avery needs to be relevant again.

Spezza has one year remaining and is every bit as injury prone as anyone...he is getting older which doesn't bode well for his back or his production.
Berglund seems fair....maybe with a second round pick, but I still don't see how Spezza fits into their system...he'll he didn't fit in our system, we all Wing Dang Doodle about his commitment here....St Louis will defend more.... Sharp seems right if Chicago REALLY wants a Center as he is older and has a similiar contract.
I want this done....this is embarrassing....to many screw ups with star players....we are going to be the next Edmonton where nobody will want to play.
I am really losing faith in Murray's ability to manage a roster. He can build a team....but he can't seem to keep them together for the time required to win....

Spezza had back surgery, then hurt his knee while training to come back. He was more than a step behind at the start of last season, and then the goaltending and coaching went south. He had a really bad season, which can also be said about every one of the regulars outside of the top line. I'd bet Spezza has a re rebound season and will continue to be a productive, creative player in this league for another 5 years after that. I wish him luck wherever he ends up, but in order to get what he's worth he may have to endure a few more months in the Capital.

Don't forget that Yashin came back after worse circumstances. He played well, and upped his trade value so we ended up with Chara and Spezza. Not a bad haul.

I just want to remind everyone I said this about Murray a couple years back.

Murray is a builder, and the Sens need a GM that is a finisher and willing to make a bold move.

Nobody ever wanted to play in ottawa unless they were drafted and developed. This is nothing new. We will keep guys as long as we develop well.

This woe is me Dung needs to stop in this fanbase. It's embarrassing after one year. Literally just one year. No offence.

In nhl circles the org is not poorly regarded.

This fanbase is awful and it comes directly from the inferiority complex that comes from being between Toronto and Montreal. As soon as something goes wrong it worries about what others think of the organisation. Man, who gives a Diddle?
The team is in a rebuild that started 3 years ago and basically 1 player drafted since then has made the roster.
That's why they are still inconsistent, not because Melnyk doesn't want to overpay for UFAs who are gonna be bought out once the kids are ready.
