An NHL source tells me STL interest in Jason Spezza is serious & they are putting together a package that would include Patrik Berglund.

He's listed as a centre. Is he good enough for the 2nd line centre or the 3rd?

I sure hope so if he's who's coming back in the trade. 20 goals without PP time us fairly impressive. Still I'm dreaming that BM pills something better out of his hat.

14 goals with limited pp time (1:30 per game). He's scored 20 twice and 19 once as a 26 year old. He's a solid player.

He'd likely play left wing to Zibanejad's C I think
Or 3c with lazar on his right.

It's going to be the most predictable trade ever. Berglund will help right off the hop, Rattie could be a solid contributor soon, 1st round pick is a must, maybe the get the 33rd along with it is as well. Either way, that's Spezza's worth for the most part and Berglund is a 200 foot player.

Just as an FYI the Sens liked Rattie a lot in his draft year from what I know but they liked Peumpel a little better.

AJ Jakubek. His sources are always solid.

It would be a solid trade. Still would love to get sobotka, but I like where this is going anyway.

Some think the prospect may be the Czech, Jaskin.

If they can get three pieces like that from St. Louis, I would consider the trade a good one for Ottawa.

Everyone is aware that Berglund is RFA right?

Well, now that you mention it, I'm sure they are.

Sing and trade? Is Berglund friends with Karlsson by any chance?

Yes. My sources tell me they would like to play together. In Detroit.

Solid prospect as well so we'll see, all things considered Jaskin is probably more along the lines of what the Sens are looking for in a forward vs Rattie who is a little smaller and like I said up there a lesser player than Peumpel in the eyes of the Sens.  Either way 1st round pick, good prospect, good player is about all you can hope for and IMO that's the end of the building through draft picks and trades.... or close to it.  Still think Methot for Stewart happens.

No sense in getting to worked up about an unsubstantiated rumour from a dubious "source."

Meh, I think it's a transparent in terms of what is going on right now.  St.Louis, Anaheim, Dallas.  Jaskin is a big kid who can score and those are tough to find so...

We'll have to monitor the situation closely and separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to "insiders", I suppose.
