Just as an FYI the Sens liked Rattie a lot in his draft year  from what I know but they liked Peumpel a little better.

Some think the prospect may be the Czech, Jaskin.

Solid prospect as well so we'll see, all things considered Jaskin is probably more along the lines of what the Sens are looking for in a forward vs Rattie who is a little smaller and like I said up there a lesser player than Peumpel in the eyes of the Sens.  Either way 1st round pick, good prospect, good player is about all you can hope for and IMO that's the end of the building through draft picks and trades.... or close to it.  Still think Methot for Stewart happens.

No sense in getting to worked up about an unsubstantiated rumour from a dubious "source."

Meh, I think it's a transparent in terms of what is going on right now.  St.Louis, Anaheim, Dallas.  Jaskin is a big kid who can score and those are tough to find so...

We'll have to monitor the situation closely and separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to "insiders", I suppose.

When is Melnyk gonna sell?

And our season could easily hinge on how Zibanejad and Cowen perform.

Careful what you wish for. What makes you think that a new owner wouldn't move the team?

That seems unlikely to me. I think Ottawa is a decent market. Maybe not great, but decent. They keep afloat (especially when you take the arena revenues outside of hockey into account). It's gotta be a massive expense to move a team. I think that's only really an option if the team can't survive in the existing market, and I don't think that's the case here.

Well, now that you mention it, I'm sure they are.

Sing and trade?  Is Berglund friends with Karlsson by any chance?

What song? Wink

Seems crazy knowing that Sens may not get full value for player who averages 17th in NHL Pts/60 over past 5 yrs: http://t.co/CghY5HzdtP

Edit: By the way, that is for 5-on-5 points.

People realize there's more to this game than just acquiring points, right?

Still don't understand why Murray would say this...

https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch/status/476843934191480833

"Murray told me Spezza wants out because he's blamed too often when the club doesn't win. #Sens"

Murray has a long history of speaking when he probably shouldn't. It's really strange. Maybe it's a tactic that we can't figure out, maybe it's just Murray being Murray. It makes little sense to me personally that he would say it.

Brad May (lol) said on Sportsnet that Spezza wanted out because he wants to win - which is fair enough I guess. He's in the home stretch and he wants to be on a contender, but how's that for a captain who believes in his team?

Spezza is a piece of trash man, lol.  Not sure why people find this so hard to believe.  I have literally been saying it for close to a decade.

Murray explained this himself when he said "I'm 70, I don't care ..."

I'm really not sure I would say that, but he's certainly not a winner - which is cute seeing as he wants to go to a contender so other people can help him win a Cup.

No.

The only thing to this game is to win. You win by outscoring your opponent. So "points" are a means to an end.

Also Spezza has been ripped here for not being able to produce 5-on-5. Stats don't really beat that out. Even this season his production 5-on-5, normalized to ice time, wasn't bad. The worst of it (this season) has been the +/-. Another much maligned stat. It's usually called a "useless" stat unless it is being used to make your point. Which your point a useless point, no?

No-one is going to argue that Spezza sucked this year. So did Phillips. So did Neil. So did Condra and Greening and Smith and, yes, even Karlsson (of course Karlsson's sucking is still head and shoulders above most players).

Now, who are we going to get back in the trade?
