Jason Spezza - Trade Discussion

Spezza to St.Louis rumors really starting to heat up. Stastny might not even be offered a contract by St.Louis.

Where are these rumours? And do we really want Berglund? Again, horrible in the playoffs.

Diddle it, you want Jason you give us Schwartz or Tarasenko. i'll take less in return to have one of those guys. they say no then you see who else wants Jason out there.

You won't get Schwartz, forget it the guy will be a star. TJ Oshie can be had after a veeeeeery long negociation.

Oshie would be great. Reading that article makes it sound like Spezza would be good with the blues. Maybe he signs an extension first.

Not that I would want him, but Bouwmeester is definitely not untouchable.

Looking at the cap space and roster sizes:

San Jose
Vancouver
LA
Washington
Detroit
Dallas
Anaheim

-- all these and other have enough cap room for a big splash and still fill out the rest of their roster. Lots of places.

Spezza for Oshie and a small plus would be solid (their 2014 1st).  Biggest thing is Ottawa would be one of the only suitors left for Stastny... St.Louis being the biggest threat to sign him.  Toronto might make a push but they won't be able to offer the years and term Ottawa can and even then who wants to go to Toronto as a big UFA signing knowing how things usually end up?

Either way this could be the greatest off season for the Sens in history.  Remove Spezza, Michalek, maybe a younger D man, replace with Oshie, Boyle and Stastny.  Team is better 10 fold.

Let's hope this is a good off season, and let's hope that we're not left scratching our heads come the fall. If we can make it through this summer without having to wonder if the #budget got in the way, it'd be cool.

Like I have said before until players start leaving Ottawa because of budget or it affects their on ice play then it's a non factor.

They got one of their best players via UFA. Clearly we can't sign anybody because of the budget

Seriously, remove Spezza, Michalek, and Hemsky and that's what?  14 mil right there... even if they stay at par in what they spend that's a lot of money to spend period. Anyways, w/e, Spezza thread!

How can anyone say oshie + for Spezza. Why would they do that?

Because Oshie has never hit 20 goals? lol.  Blues need scoring if they are going with Elliott and Allen and Spezza provides that.  I like Oshie a lot but his value is no where near that of Spezza's and the Sens won't be giving Spezza away.
