If you think Chicago would take him on, you're crazy.  But yeah, the rest of the teams you mention could certainly all take a run at Spezza.

Sure they would. They have no depth behind Toews

No cap room at all for him. Unless they could get him signed to a contract under $6M, I just can't see it happening.

There will be teams that want Spezza and you just hope he waives for all teams out West.

If you dangle him... they will come.

Wonder if the Pens dangle Malkin... heh heh.

If Malkin is traded out West the price for Spezza may go even higher if a team feels they need to load up.  I would bet Malkin is traded to LA if the Kings fail to get past Anaheim, return could be huge.

i doubt spezza is a rental. they will make sure he's traded to a team that he'll resign with.

neely is right, if Malkin ends up out west some other team is going to get very scared and pull the gun.
i think it was reported that spezza would be happy to play for the blues(hence contract extention) charge them the moon I say.

Yotes, Stars, Blues, Avs, Ducks, Kings, Rangers, Panthers, a lot of teams could use Spezza.  Ottawa will get a very solid return for Spezza.

Lots of teams around the league have to be thinking they need just one more piece with all the Games 7 and long series' we've been seeing.

Dallas is interesting because they may actually need Greg Anderson as well as Spezza.

Kari Lehtonen is a pretty good goalie and better than Anderson.

Are you forgetting Peter "The great Dane" Regin?

Shaw was pretty good.

All this talk has me excited we'll finally be rid of that bum and that Murray has finally found the balls to pull this off.

Hear, hear. This should have happened 5+ year ago, tbh.

Murray didn't find his balls, Murray has been forced to make this decision.  If MacLean was gone so was Murray and if MacLean stayed Spezza was out of there.  In fact, I think it's somewhat concerning Murray was more than likely willing to let Spezza run with things while he potentially fired another coach.

As for Spezza, the next place he goes he won't get nearly the kind of treatment he did in Ottawa, both good and bad.  He's not going to get the leash from the coach and management he once did but at the same time he won't get the back lash of a team doing poorly.  That said though, depending on the team he goes to and if he resigns, I wouldn't be surprised to see him crash and burn as well.

You really think Murray was ready to fire MacLean over Spezza? I figured at this point the light bulb must have come on.

How many coaches/wingers was he prepared to go through before he realizes the problem is the only constant(Spezza)?

Lots of other reasons to fire MacLean other than Spezza. Starting with his ridiculous mustache!

I really do believe that portion of things.

I wish we could somehow move spezza to Winnipeg... there's a lot of players on that team that i think would benefit from being in the eastern conference and play with some of our guys. sadly I doubt winni is a team he'd accept to be moved to.
if it were i'd make a multi-player move on both sides.
